JD 4720 Cab
Ok, so I have been reading all the posts about Top and Tilt and come to the conclusion I only really need the top tilt for my 4720 Cab. Its going to make great use for my tiller and bush hog. I also like the CCM version with the check valve, as I dont want to keep adjusting the top tilt everytime I shut the tractor off for a few days.

My question is as follows: I currently have a Fasse valve for my 4n1 bucket with a joystick with two buttons for open and close. What do I need BESIDES the CCM top link? Do I use the buttons that open/close my 4n1 to lift/drop the top link? Is this called the electric diverter? Any help would be great!

Surplus Center has the same Category 1 hydraulic top-links as CCM does for a similar price.

I'm hoping KennyD sees this thread as he is very knowledgeable on hydraulics.

Do you have any rear remotes on your tractor that are unused? If so, you can use one of them, which is what I'm doing with my hydraulic top-link. You'll need hoses and quick-connect couplers. Kenny suggests using 1/4" hoses. I have 3/8" and I can control mine fine; but if I were to do it over again I would get 1/4" hoses per Kenny's advice.

Otherwise you should be able to use the remote and current joystick controls for your 4-n-1 bucket; but you'll need longer hoses to reach the rear, and when using Top-n-tilt, your 4-n-1 will be offline, and vice versa. If I recall correctly, the Faase valve is an electric diverter valve.

1/2" garden hose makes great mock-up material for figuring out how long to make hydraulic hoses as it behaves similarly to hydraulic hose.

MJ's advice is dead on Jerry, Sounds like what you have is a diverter-you only have one momentary switch correct? Pressing that switch makes the L&R operation of the joystick work the 4n1? If yes, then you have the diverter.

As for the HTL, using your diverter is fine. Just get longer 1/4" hoses to hook it up as MJ said.

Also, as MJ eluded to-adding a the rear remote kit for your machine is a great option also-probably cost's under $300 and will be easier to reach and use while turned in the seat watching that tiller and 'hog.

kennyd,
On my 110 with the electric diverter there is one rocker switch for controling the auxillary ports and one momentary switch to swap the diverter valve on the joystick handle. When the diverter valve is in the front loader position the joystick controls the loader raise and bucket curl as normal and the rocker switch will operate the third function for open and closing the 4 in 1 bucket or auger forward and reverse. I need to add there are additional switches on the right hand console to turn the diverter switch on and off and an additional rocker switch that mimics the ab rocker switch on the joystick. Whenever the ignition switch is turned off the diverter valve switches back to front with loader control.

If I momentarily press the small diverter switch it shifts to the rear outlets where pushing the joystick to the front tilts retracts the top link cylinder, pulling on the joystick extends the top cylinder, pushing to the right tilts the implement lower on the right.

Is this the same way the 4720 diverter kit works? When I bought my 4520 I did not want a loader on it so I made up hoses to connect directly to the valve (48" each with 90 degree fittlings on the valve end) and reused the quick couplers that were on the metal lines ( I removed the metal lines and stored them away). I also installed the rear outlet kit from Deere this way both tractors have three outlets at the rear and can both plug in the top and tilt kit as needed.

So I need a switch to control either the 4n1 or top link? Can I use the 3rd valve lever in the 4720 for top link, or I must use the joystick? Right now that lever does nothing

Jerry,
You can use the 3rd valve to control the top link no problem. Just plug and play.

If you are using a tilt cylinder in addition to the top link then you need the additional plumbing.

On my setup I use three valves one for top link, second for tilting hitch, third for hydraulic tooth bar on my boxblade.

I am not sure how the 4720 diverter works-but it probably very simular to the 110. It also cost's A LOT of money!

You did not say you had a rear remote (the third lever) already, you asked specifically about the diverter and the button on the joystick so I assumed that is all you had to control the new HTL.

Use the unused 3rd lever valve, which controls a rear remote no doubt. You are good to go essentially minus the hoses to go to the cylinder.

Ok now I understand, thanks!

One other question: When I am behind tractor and want to adjust the top link, how do you do it? In the tractor I will use lever, but when outside?
