Sorry, not familiar with a Farmall D-35. Do you mean a Farmall 350 Diesel? BobG in VA

Tractors armed with toothbars are so frightening to the roots and stumps that all you really need to do is lower the bucket to float position and drive slowy towards them. The roots/stumps/saplings will recognize their fate and simply get up and leave! They will beat a path to the the perceived safety of your burn pile. I guess they prefer retreat and suicide (?stumpicide) to dismemberment and slaughter by alien tractor teeth. In the meantime, without breaking a sweat or leaving your armoured tractor seat, you will feel the thrill of victorious battle against Mother Nature and have done your small part against the evil forces of entropy. May the bar be with you.

Re: Tooth Time

Excellent post.

Especially timely since I too ordered a Xmas toothbar from markham yesterday. 60" was way less than 350$. Supposed to ship by tomorrow.

Just love talking to those southern gals.

May the bar be with me.

Re: Tooth Time

You guys are certainly gonna enjoy your toothbars, 'specially since the ground probably doesn't freeze where you are. We're hard frozen in Mass. and, except for occasional warm periods, it will probably stay that way until March. My toothbar is taking a nap until then so the FEL can help with snow removal. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In the spirit of Island Tractor, I'll give y'all an additional toothbar tip; in order to avoid expensive periodontal barwork, make sure that they floss every night. Also, remember that while a diet of stumps, roots and dirt is good for them, unless you want to pay for implants later on, make sure that they stay away from "rock candy". /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Tooth Time

It seems the markham is a popular one, I have just been trying to figure out how it is so much less expensive than all of the others....The dealer was quoting me 650.00 for the rankin he sells?

I suspect it is the absence of a middleman. To buy the Markham you are basically giving them an order at the factory. They manufacture "just in time" to your specifications and then slap a bunch of UPS labels on the toothbar and push it out the door. I have no idea how anyone could justify $600 for a toothbar except by involving a number of middlemen and retailers. Sixty or seventy pounds of steel and a handful of "teeth" simply don't cost that much. The labor involved is essentially welding/plasma cutting and for a company that has such a manufacturing set up I cannot imagine it takes much more than an hour or two for each toothbar in labor costs.
