Well last night I found a tooth bar on ebay. It is 54" in width and my bucket is only 48". But the tooth bar was so cheap and it is BRAND NEW so I bid on it and bought it for $69.00. Does anyone have any ideas for when I have it delievered how to put it on. I was thinking about cutting it down and welding it together. Let me know what you think.

You will certainly have to cut it down. But $69 is a pretty cheap toothbar!

You have to ask yourself, do you want to keep the teeth evenly spaced?
Sounds like you will be needing to reomve approx. 8" of bar.

If it's an odd number of teeth, you can cut a section right out of the middle.
Usually they have even number of teeth (In this size usually 6 teeth).
So, maybe cutting a 4" section from each end?

Do you have any pics or links of the actual bar??

For the money,i would have bought it too!!!!If it was me i'd cut the middle out and weld it back together.I also would install both halves on the bucket and THEN weld it together so you know it lines up right.
Just make sure you put your ground directly on the toothbar when you weld it to avoid any problems with current running through the tractor.
( Maybe you already knew this but i thought i'd bring it up.)Of course if you do cut out of the middle and two teeth happen to come directly side by side, that wont work.If that happens, maybe you could cut out a little on both ends, just in between the outer teeth, then weld it back together. That could be the best way,and even though you would have two welds then,it might be better than cutting it in the middle.Better "strenghtwise" that is.......Good Luck

ya I have to call UPS today and make arrangements to have it shipped. If it wasnt 5 hours away I would go get it but it is cheaper to have it shipped then to fill up my truck and go down and come back.

Probably also not new info, but make sure you get the proper electrode/wire when you weld it. It may well be harder/alloy steel. Sounds like you bought a good deal; hope it works out for you. j

Ya I make the arrangements to have it shipped ups for $60 and I paid $69 for the bar so altogether it cost me $130. Brand new they are $350 and this one it BRAND NEW that I bought. I should have it by end of next week because place I bought it from only would take a paypal check so they wont ship it till the check clears. I will let you all know how I make out.

Well I have had them on for about a week or so. I brought the bar to work and welded it together with an arch welder. Here are pics.

Looks good!, Can't beat the price. I am sure that you will be extremely happy with the added digging ability of the tooth bar.

Nice job in fitting it to your bucket.
What a great deal you got too. I would've jumped on it too.
s up.

I mean for this little b6000. It needs teeth to dig things up. I was digging 4 inches of ice at ease. It is a nice strong tooth bar. They have some more bars on there ebay store I think.
