Went into woods today with Rex (the BX-24) to clear undergrowth and cut firewood for winter. I had the brush cutter on the 3-pt, and the tooth bar up front left over from an earlier job.
The tooth bar ROCKS at clearing undergrowth and snags! I was amazed at how Rex ripped up thorns, brambles, windfalls, etc and piled them up at the edge of the clearing!
The extra weight up front was nice for traction too
Anyway, Rex behaved like a Bobcat in heat and made short work of clearing the undergrowth, back-dragging the floor clean, and prepping the cutting zone. I have to say that the the toothbar has proven to be a very good investment ($300) that I'll probably not be able to wear out.
Not sure if I would have gotten the same results with a brush fork up front since I was pretty brutal to windfall logs and the like. The short teeth of the bar really made short work of it all.
