i was wondering if any body added one??is it worth the money and where did you find them ?thanks i just recived my bx24 .and any other input would be great.
The general feeling here is that they are well worth the money. I didn't have one on my BX22, so I don't have personal experience. You don't want to buy anything too heavy for that bucket. Markham welding seems to be the place most buy theirs....... here is a link: Markham Welding - Home
There are MANY threads on this topic. Check out Markham, Woods and ATI for a few. Toothbars are a must for digging, grubbing/brush removal. The difference is like night and day.
Mine happens to be a woods, a little pricey but I got it as a package with my 23. Takes maybe 5 mins to R&R. Sure makes FEL excavating much faster.
My dealer actually threw one in from W.R. Long. The FTB series. This one is nice because of the flat bar under the bucket. Makes it smooth when back dragging. The Markhams have a very good rep as well, but the flat bar is inside the bucket, so you get grooves when back dragging
I paid $185 for a Gearmore 6 tooth bar when I got my BX24. The dealer carried Gearmore as a line, and was able to essentially meet the Markham price. No extra charge for installation.
It is held on by 4 heavy set screws, so no welding required. The teeth look a little sharper than the Markham and it has done real well with some digging/smoothing I've been doing with the loader.
