Hello All
I got started on this project yesterday, and have made enough progress for you to follow what I have in mind.
I wanted to fabricate a toolbox bracket for my Grand L 4330, to mount on the right FEL tower. Two 5/8" holes were already drilled in the tower, I just drilled holes in my mounting plate to match. I made a simple tray out of angle iron to fit my ammo can, and welded it to the mounting plate.
I am not sure the tray is sturdy enough as-is for a toolbox full of tools, so i will be adding a custom brace out of 2" X 1/2" flat stock, which will also serve as a step.
The lower part of the stiffeners on the ammo can had to be ground off to fit the tray, as shown.
In addition to the step, I may design a mount for a smaller ammo can to fit directly underneath this one, that slides into place somehow.
Obviously, the toolbox can be removed to carry to the work site. The fit is snug enough and the tray is deep enough that I don't think any tie down is necessary. The ammo can was a perfect fit for this project, the latch handle clears the fender by about 1/4".
Pictures after modifications and paint to follow.
