I was mowing with my TC30 and making a turn and all of a sudden my left leg gets sprayed and fluid is flying out of my left engine "screen". I shut her down quick, and found the 5" or so black section of hose right near the filter on the left side let go.

Anyone know the pressure of this hose, I'm thinking my local NH dealer might want overcharge me on the price.

Consider yourself lucky. The last time I had a leak, I had the loader up high in the air and when the fitting broke, I got sprayed right in the face. Luckily, I wear glasses. And both of us were lucky nothing was so hot as to cause the fluid to catch fire. Google hydraulic fluid accidents if you want to read some horror stories.

I don't know about your NH hoses, but if they have standard fittings, a NAPA dealer can make them up for you. Some hardware stores can do that, too (local stores, not Lowe's or Home Depot). Take the old hose with you, of course.

My John Deere had those wonderful extra special non-standard fittings, and it was going to cost me more to have them made than to buy them at the dealer! I'm tempted to replace the whole system with standard fitting hoses and tubes.

This hose is just held on with hose clamps.

This was a short length of hose, on the left side, between two metal tubes. I'm guessing it is a flex hose of some sorts. I am thinking it's for the HST? It was dark last night and I couldn't follow the lines.

Anyway, do I need to bleed the system after I replace the hose?

Your problem is common. The hoses go to the transmission cooler in front of the radiator. Just replaced the hoses on my DX29 8 months ago. My nephew was just driving the tractor and oil started going everywhere. It can lose a lot of oil fast. I think my brother got the hoses from Case-IH. There is a fair amount of pressure on the hoses and I could see the old hoses swell when the tractor was running.
I replaced both hoes but only blew one. There is a tendency for oil to leak at the hose clamps and you may consider using 2 hose clamps. Just replace the lost fluid. Don't worry about any air in the system. It will be gone as the fluid runs through the system.

Thanks, replaced it earlier. It only appears I have one hose, it the other located somewhere else?

I lost about a half gallon of fluid, but all is good for now. The hose clamps aren't the issue, the hose actually burst.

Maybe yours is a little different. I have and inlet and outlet hose. The hose burst on mine as well. I have had some problems with minimal leakage at the hose clamps both before and after I changed the burst hose.

I'm posting the illustration of your hydraulic system from the NH website parts lookup. There are 3 identical sections of hose in the HST cooler and filter plumbing (item 22). There is an additional T-shaped hose on the suction side of the hydraulic and HST charge pump (item 26), but that hose is always under suction and would leak air into the system if it had a leak. The section of hose just above the HST filter is the one I think blew out on your tractor. It can have pressures above 250 psi under normal operation.

The two hose sections shown under the HST cooler may have been changed to a more rugged part on later tractors. Yours may have a different configuration.

Our NH dealer swags their own hose with super heavy hose material. Have replaced nearly all the orginal hose on my backhoe w/ these; much better.
