Luckily it's going to be another week until I get my home equity loan - otherwise I'd be really stressed about this! As it is, I hope it doesn't snow too much more between now and then (as I already sold my old tractor)!
What I'm looking for:
Tractor with loader, box blade and brush hog delivered to the 14850 zip code.
- 6' brush hog
- 6' loader
- 6' box blade
- 6' tiller
- capable of comfortably running all of those
- block heater or whatever for cold weather
- filled tires
- chains
It would be nice to have 4wd, of course.
Now, it looks like I can actually get most of this (other than 4wd) with the MX5000SU.
Advantages to the MX5000SU:
- new!
- warranty!
- it's a "real" tractor (a small utility tractor as opposed to a large consumer tractor)
- the price seems pretty good
Disadvantages:
- it's a bit clunky - old fashioned - bare bones
- it's only 2wd (could be an issue with a heavy load in the FEL)
- as a limited production run getting parts for it could be very difficult
It would all just be so much simpler if someone, somewhere, just met my price ($20k max - absolutely every charge, tax, add-on included) and requirements in one package! No chance!
Anyway... I'm talking about having this to run on my 40 acres. It's very rough and hilly terrain. About 25 acres of it is mostly open (I'd surely like to make it quite open) with the rest treed.
I'd like the tractor for brush hogging, snow plowing (I'm fine with the FEL for this - I did it that way several seasons with a Bobcat), cleaning up and making roads and trails, generally evening out my land (it was left in deep furrows by a previous owner - I'd gradually work it down to even) and for planting a few acres in corn and other grains.
Is that enough information?
Anyway... I've also been looking at used stuff. Seems I could get the 4WD if I took, say, a NH 3930 or 3910 or perhaps even a MF1455V (if the seller would ever get back to me). What am I missing? Ah, yes... I'm missing a tractor, just now!
Thanks,
charles
