Toilet snake attack: urban legend comes true?
Mon May 11, 2009 4:56pm EDT
TAIPEI (Reuters) - A Taiwanese man became a sitting target for a snake, which
bit his ***** as sat on the toilet at his rural home, local media reported on
Monday.

"As soon as he sat down, he suddenly felt a knife-like pain and reacted
instinctively by standing up," the China Times said. "When he looked down, he
saw the big snake."

The 51-year-old man, from Nantou County, was under medical care with minor
injuries, a director at Puli Christian Hospital said.

"As soon as he has passed the risk of infection, he can go," the director, who
declined to be named, said. "A snake's mouth isn't always clean."

Local television images showed the black and yellow reptile, reportedly a
species of rat snake, being uncoiled and plucked slowly from the toilet bowl.

Snakes regularly enter rural homes in Taiwan and other sub-tropical regions of
Asia.

I didn't get bit, but a snake sure scared the heck out of me one night when I got up and stumbled to the bathroom. Luckily, I was standing up! :)

I had an Uncle who found a squirrel swimming in his toilet bowl one day. It had come down the vent stack.

Mike---that sort of defeats the purpose of a 1.6 gpf toilet. The state police will surely be knocking at your door.

Then let them check for snakes !!! ... but then our state's motto isn't "Please - may I" Any trooper in my house will : a. be an invited guest, b. have a warrant, or c. have a gun drawn for a good reason - like a snake in the toilet! MikeD74T

Couple of years back a similar story was in our local paper. (Montreal Gazette)

Turned out that I knew the owner of the errant snake that made headlines.

He had fed the snake a rabbit and left the bath tub filled with what he believed sufficient water for his absence, problem was we had a severe heat wave and the water kinda evaporated and his pet was thirsty.

Thanks to the shyster who built our place, I found two snakes on separate occasions in my basement. Knock on wood, no more have entered after I plugged up the entry points.

I don't like snakes; but these two were caught and released into the vacant lot behind us to catch mice.

I've always been fascinated by snakes, I've caught many over the years (Arizona was fun). The largest was a 5 1/2 foot black snake (for Connecticut that's huge).

What kind of snakes are they mjncad?

In spite of liking snakes, finding one the hard way (see op) is most undesirable.
