The sellers username is not found in the "Discussion" side of the forum. I would also vote scam.

Its a scam..here is the response i got

The shipping will take from 3 up to 5 days. The tractor is already in the custody of the shipping company. As soon as they will verify and process your payment they will start the delivery process. After the tractor reaches its destination you will have an inspection period from 3 up to 30 days in which you can test and inspect it. If you aren't satisfied they will send your money back, in case you agree and want to keep the tractor they will release the payment to me only after your inspection period ends.

Let me know if we can proceed with the transaction.

I just checked Ebay for used 4120's, which I often do in preparation for selling my 4120 in the coming year. One just 'sold' for under 3 grand, and then there was a current auction -- with the exact same description as the first auction, but in a different state -- that was currently at under 2 grand. A third was offered in a 'private auction' (secret bidders, contact the seller before bidding), and the Buy It Now price was under 5 grand.

Sure sounds like there's a wider-spread scam going on. Can anyone out there confirm or deny this?

I have not figured out why compact tractors are targets for scams but there are everywhere

It isn't just CUTs. Try buying any very popular pricey item, like a Korg synth the scams outnumber the real deals...

I saw a kubota 3400 with less than 100hrs for $5000. I answered the add and got the same kind of reply. Ohh yea and the price includes free shipping to Canada from Tampa. Too good to be true for sure.

Another add for a 2005 JD4720 for $7000!

Both were on Craigs List

If they put out enough lines they are bound to catch a sucker

Watchout - even if it is a real auction for a real tractor on Ebay!

I was outbid for a JD990 on ebay that went for over $16k, but did not meet the Sellers Reserve Price. In the following 2-3 weeks I received 6 separate emails with all the same tractor details offering a "Second Chance" offer....."I will sell the tractor directly to you for $15900....send your money to this address.... etc."

Every one of the emails was a scam by someone else (not the original seller) who was monitoring high dollar auctions, then trying to scam losing bidders into an offline second chance offer to buy the item. I turned every email into the Ebay security center for tracking / alerts to other buyers.

From now on, I will prefer to only participate in Private Bidder auctions if it is for a high dollar item on Ebay. This keeps your IDs off the listing so others cannot scam you this way..........hopefully.
