My answer is ALWAYS cover. Some of the attachments have to set out, but not the tractor. Here is what I made the weekend after I got my tractor. Rented a PHD, used local (as in 20-30 feet away) pine logs, bought several 2x10's, some OSB and I hade the tarp. Also coated the ends of the logs going into the ground with asphalt roofing gunk in hopes of postponing the rot a bit. If I get even 2 yrs out of it, I'll be happy. If I get going on the garage/workshop, I won't need that. And yes, I put the loader back on before she went to bed for the night.
