I'm new to working with hydraulics.

I just received the TNT cylinders and hoses. How do I attach the hoses to the cylinders? Sealant required? There were 2 fiber type washers included with the package (4 hoses, two washers?). What are they for?

How do I disconnect the hoses from the tractor? Just pull hard? They seem a bit loose but are hard to disconnect (Kubota M5040 with Kubota remotes). When I've used quick disconnects before on the loader, there was a pull back sleeve on the female end that released the quick connect. Nothing like that on the remotes on the tractor.

Thanks.

Ken

I can answer part of your question , I think.
If you got the TNT cylinders from Carter then the thread in the cylinder fitting is 3/8 pipe. Not the cylinder itself but the adapter fitting. If you bought the hoses from them then one end should be right for that. Use teflon pipe dope good for hydraulic oil on the threads.
It is a good bet the other end of the hose is also 3/8 mpt unless you ordered something else. IF you got the parts from some other supplier I have no clue. There are adapters to go from anything to anything . Discount Hydraulic Hose.com is a good source, They have a $20 min.
Kubota guys will have to answer the QD question, but you know you will need QD ends to put on your hoses.

Thanks for the response. I got everything from the TNT folks and told them it was for a Kubota M5040. I am assuming they know the equipment and sent the right stuff.

I didn't know there was special teflon tape for hydraulic fittings. I'll look for some.

NOT tape, paste comes in a tube or can with a brush. Tape , unless you are really careful, forever, can do bad things to pumps. I would not use tape myself.

Bob,

thanks for the clarification.

On your remotes, to disconnect try pushing in and then pull out. Sort of one quick motion. Sounds like it is this type since you don't have any collars to pull back.

Ken,

Did you ever get this resolved?

Did C&CM send you hoses for your Top Link?

I am thinking of getting a Hyd Top Link for my M5040 from C&CM and wondered if you are happy with what you got, and if you remember what length Top Cylinder you got?

Stu
