Just a curiosity question. I was at a used tractor dealer today (looking at grain drills) As I left I saw the rear end of a TN75N. I assume the N is for NARROW as it looked really narrow- the rear wheel looked unnaturally close together. It was a nice looking cab tractor with 3 factory remotes and a beefy (at least compared to my Kubota) 3PH.

Anybody know what the primary use for so narrow a tractor is? I assume narrow passageways or something but could not come up with enough uses for a market.

I saw a real neat Landini Rex, 105 hp cab tractor at the ARGO Landini/McCormick Canadian Headquarters in Bradford. It could fit through a 4 ft wide opening. It was for use in vineyards. Real cool to look at, but the cab was tight!

Remember, these tractors are built by an Italian company. Vineyards in Europe are a large market for this type of machine, and exporting to the US to fill a niche market involves little additional cost. I'm sure that many orchard owners use these machines too.

I have seen orchard tractors and they are usually very low (at least antiques are). Should have thought of vineyards but we only have some over on the western slope here (at least where the grapes are actually produced)

Thanks

are you sure it is an N? I have never seen a N version of the TN series. There is the TN-F (TN-FA) line which is a fruit tractor designed for orchards and some vineyards. The F line is around 60" wide

There is then the TN-V line which is the super narrow (50" or so) tractor designed for very narrow vineyards.

John Deere, Argo, Agco, Kubota and Claas also make narrow fruit and vineyard tractors based off a standard utility tractor.
