Well after looking at new Kubota's (M4800,M4900,M5700) Case IH(JX55) and several brands of used tractors I ended up at a NH dealership were a friend just bought a TC45 with FEL & BH
He had a lease tractor comeing in for sale (TN75DA) with factory cab and FEL & 500 hours.
This is probably about 25 more HP than what I need, but with a price of $31,000 it is not to far from the other tractors without a cab.
The only downfall that I can see is manuverability in the woods,Other than a little bit of logging I will be using this tractor to build some stone retaining walls, snow removal, and a small amount of brush hogging
Does anyone know were this tractor is built? How will it be for getting parts 20 years from know?
The cab is a big plus for this area (-30 with the wind chill and blowing snow not to uncommon) and other than the overkill on the HP it seems like a good buy, but being fairly new to tractors, and NH information your opinions would be appreciated.
Thank you
BT

CNH is a big comapny and TN series have been out for a while and seem to be very popular for a mid sized tractor. Robert or Andy can give better answer.

I love my TN70DA. I've got about 95 hrs on it now.

Where abouts in VT are you?

I have had my TN 65 for 5 years now. The only time I had any problems was the first year the TN was out. New Holland corrected those problems and did repairs on all the TN's affected no matter if they showed any symptoms or not. Since that first year I have never had any problems. I have not needed any parts and the only time I did need parts was to add to my machine like a third remote or second drawbar and in all cases I got my parts in a day or two as they needed to be ordered. If I recall, Cat runs CNH's parts distribution and they do a good job of getting parts out.

Fluids and filters are easy to get and the TN uses the standard NH fluids that Ford used for years so you can get them almost anywhere. Wix has the TN filters also if you don't want to buy them from your dealer.

I would not be worried about tractors being built overseas. In this class all the tractors are built overseas. JD is built in Germany, CNH is built in Italy and a bunch of other countries. 20 years is a short time for a tractor. I would be more concerned as to how parts would be 40 years from now. I know it is getting hard to buy some JD M parts and that tractor is 53 years old. The good news is that there are a lot of used and aftermarket parts. The TN is a very popular tractor and that will bode well for parts and parts tractors 20-30 years from now. Now if that will help ease your mind some lets talk about the TN.

The TN is not as nimble as a compact. However, it will go thru areas that would make a compact cry (I know, my 1920 balls her eyes out every now and then and I have to use the TN to save her). If you are going to work in the woods with the TN you will like it but all you have to do is make sure you have a decent size trail (which is a good thing if you are skidding logs anyways). I have used my TN inside a machine shop and had to work around huge milling machines and support post for the roof. All I did was drive slow and the TN did not have any problem working in those tight quarters. I would have taken pics of it but I was not allowed to film some of the parts I was driving around. I do have a friend who bought a TN75 and set it up for logging. It gets used mainly as a skidder and they do not have any problems in the woods with it and they have the wheels out as wide as they can. Also, you will find that you can never have enough horse power. That 25 extra horses will seem like a lot at first but you will find a use for them before long and then you will be wishing you had bought a TL 100A /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I wish I could tell you if that is a good price or not but I do not price the TN's very often anymore. If anything I would think you could drop it down to $30k and drive it home. The last TN I priced was a TN60a last year and that was $26,400 for FWA and loader. Add $5k for a cab and you have $31k for a TN60DA. I think the 500 hours on a lease return would equate to upgrading to a TN75DA easily. Good luck to you and let us know how things turn out or if you have any more questions just ask. Happy Easter.

TN75DA: a new one; MSRP in 2WD is b/w $32,000 to $34,800; a 4WD is b/w $36,700 to $39,300. Price varies on which transmission and the # of remote rear valves. You also have to add in the FEL which is usually around $5,000 installed. Gotta remember dealers usually only like to give a 5 to 10% discount. >10 to 20% is a great deal. Crunch the numbers and see what you come up with.

Which Tranny? I take my TN75D in the woods all the time and it does great. Knocked the radio antenna off once. No worry about parts. Very high quality workmanship. Price seems good. 500 hours is barely broken in. In this area many lease returns don't have a hard life. Some do. A large nursery in Conn takes a bunch of machines to pull wagons and do a little loader work and then turns them in after ecah Summer. If I was in market I would buy it for that price escpcially if it had 16x16 electro power shuttle, 16.9 gpm pump and rear remotes. Is it the self leveling loader? What tire sizes. There are many more options of TN's than there are on CUT's. Things like electro hydro front and rear differential locks verses rear only mechanical. Lots of questions.
Good luck you 'll enjoy it.
Andy

Thanks Andy and Chris
I don't have all the specs. on the tractor yet but the dealer said it should be back by this weekend so I will take a ride over and check it out and also hit a couple more dealerships to see what they have
Should be an expert at this tractor thing pretty soon.
The wife does not ask what we are doing this weekend anymore, just what tractor 's are we going to look at.

Congrats and welcome to the TN75 owners circle. My only regret with my TN75 is not getting a cab, but since I am a weekend warrior I can get by without.

Now what kind of attachments are you going to get? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
