2003 New Holland TN65 4wd
I just purchased a used 2003 TN65 with 282 hrs. The brake fluid low light is on. I am hoping to find the leak and fix it easily. But Please does anyone know the exact spec on the fluid needed? And where on line i can purchase it? Many thanks, Rick

I'd bet your owners manual has all the fluid specifications for your machine.

I'm also betting that if you don't have a manual.. that your dealer can get the manual AND the fluid.

rawaits; my owners manual for my 02 tn65 calls for ISO 7308, or the brake fluid from you NH dealer, like Soundguy says check with you dealer, I am wondering if you don't have a manual how do you know its low brake fluid? My indicator light for low brake fluid is (!) on the right hand corner of dash.

The owner's manual i received does not have it. I have been thru it cover to cover. I was hoping to get it on line nearby at a auto parts, as New Holland dealer is far away from me. I wonder if i give the local Napa (or the like) dealer that Iso 7308 number, that i can get it, or if it is proprietary New Holland product?

Ps does anyone run synthetic motor oil in their tractor? Is 280 hours too late to be changing to synthetic?
Thx, Rick

Section 3 page 37 in my manual, ISO 7308 is the International Specification, I would guess any that meet that spec would work. My manual # is 86584836 Came with tractor when bought new in 02.

There may be a generic equivalent to NH brake oil, but I'm not aware of it. DO NOT use any DOT brake fluid in this system! A quart of NH brake oil will probably cost under $10 and last you several years at a minimum. Don't go crazy trying to find a leak, there is an excellent chance you don't have one. It is not at all uncommon for the initial 'seating' and breakin of the braking components to create enough piston travel that topping off the reservior is required.

Thx for the replies all. A good point about not chasing a leak. Will add and monitor. Will use only NH brake fluid.

G'day spot on to use the NH oil or you can use LHM spec oil it is a mineral based brake fluid the use of any DOT type brake oils will cause the rubbers in the system to deteriorate very quickly and you will be up for a complete brake reseal:mad: some initial seepage past the brake seals can happen but you won't see this as it goes into the diff this is why they use an oil which will be compatable with the rest of the system . Good luck:)
