Can anyone explain the difference between these series? We have a TL90 and I was looking for something similar with a maybe a few more bells and whistles. I'm leaning toward a t4.90 when they come out, but the price differential between a new vs used tractor can buy several bred heifers or other equipment. Thanks fellas.

As far as bells and whistles I'm pretty sure all of these tractors came in both a basic and deluxe version, at least the TN and TL did, I don't know much about TS. Basic model would be synchro shuttle with dry clutch, deluxe would have power reverser and available dual power, more tire options, radials, 38" tires etc. Each of these tractors is one frame size up from the other, longer wheelbases, heavier etc.
What do you have now and what bells and whistles are you looking for? If you just have a basic TL and are happy with it and that size machine in general and want to stay with NH, you might want to look for a higher optioned used TL with dual power and the other goodies.

Thanks. I'm buying my (personal) first tractor; dad's is a TL90. We also have an old Massey 35, a 2940, and a 4010. All are purely mechanical, have never had any experience with a power shuttle, etc. I would like to stay with the same frame size of the TL90, but would like to have a different transmission if possible. We had an old JD 440A skidder; I would not mind finding a tractor with a transmission like it had (not sure if they even make them). I like the looks of the McCormick CX95 but am a little leery of buying something whose closest dealer is 100 miles away. Thanks again.

The TS series almost completely overlaps the TL series horsepower-wise but offers a different engine, more robust rear axles & final drives, and 3 different transmission options. The TL is a Fiat-based chassis, the TS has Ford heritage.

New Holland T5000 series, directly replaces old TL and TLA. Also Case IH Farmall U.
Both offer many upgraded options over you basic TL.

TN is an italian heritage machine, small cab, cab be had in orchard versions etc, available supersteer, low centre of gravity. Became the T4000. Roughly equivalent to a 400 or 4000 series MF in size. Open station is one step easy to get on/off, popular for beef operations, feeding, cleaning out.

TL is a Fiat heritage, but of Turkish origin I believe? It is heavier than a TN, has the big nice Ford/NH cab on it, not as low as the TN, no narrow model. Was the xx35 series before becoming TL. No supersteer axle. Became the T5000. Roughly equivalent size etc to JD/MF 500/5000 series.

TS is a NH heritage, made in UK I believe? Was the xx40 series before the TS. Could be spec'ed basic right up to the powershift transmission with ccls hydraulics. No supersteer axle. Heaviest machine out of the bunch, I think it has the strongest 3 point hitch and front axle. Tallest machine of the bunch too. Became the T6000, sort of. Roughly equivalent size etc to JD/MF 600/6000 series.

My neighbor had a TL.When I looked at it I believe it was marked made in Italy not Turkey, but that was a couple years ago and I might be wrong.

Could be, there is a history of producing some parts of Fiats in Turkey. The TD has the rearend from the basic Turkish models, but I don't think is still made there. Main point is its a Fiat model.

Of interest, a lot of the Fiat Hesston under bits are similar to the Fiat New Hollands. The TM's and the big Fiat Hesstons share some history in the drivetrain.

If I had a choice I would go with the TS over the TL. The TN is the smallest of the group and it is a great tractor for utility work. I never cared for the TL cab, it felt way too short for my liking. The TS cab on the other hand was huge by comparison. I just never could justify buying a TS or T6000 for my operation as it would only be used for tillage on 30-40 acres and baling 100 acres. Maybe in a couple years...:licking:

The TS has the same cab as the TL until the TS-A or whatever the big glass door version is called. RickB will show up and rap my knuckles on this but its more or less true.
