I own a 2002 tn 65 with a loader and 4 wheel drive i love the tractor works great and nice to operate only problem is that its a bit sluggish when it gets a load behind it so i guess im asking is there anyway to get more power out of the tractor easily? And I'm not looking to trade it in.

Dwesterveld, This may be a dumb question but do you or have you changed your air filter? Once they start to obstruct diesels will show power loss. You shouls have an inner and outer filter. Id change them both and go from there:2cents:

I have a TN65 set up like yours but a couple years older and unless I am really putting something back there that shouldn't it handles fine. Overload the tractor and it gets sluggish. What are you doing that is causing the problem assuming it isn't an engine issue? As for your original question about getting more power out of this engine it isn't as simple as it use to be. I was told by my dealer that there are different injectors and pump settings. Even going to a turbo would take quite a few modifications and the cost to retrofit your tractor is most likely going to be more then you want to spend.

Yes I have just replaced the inner and the outer the outer filter this spring. The problem is more towing down the road than in the field. Even with an empty wagon it hardly pulls up a hill. Put some hay on the wagon and it only takes a slight grade to kill your speed

8x8 tranny? It's weak in road gear going up hill. I have certain hills I can only make in 3rd gear high range.

Yes 8 x 8 tranny. It's very weak that's what got me thinking if I could turn the power up it would help a lot. We have a lot of hills gets frustrating

Make sure you're getting adequate fuel flow from the tank through to the injector pump.

The tank strainer or the fuel filter could be partially clogged and that maybe limiting fuel flow at higher loads and limiting power output.

I drive a two wheel drive version of the TN65 at work and it has been the same way since the day we took delivery. I guess it's just not meant to do hills in high gear. It's a good loader tractor otherwise.

I have a 2wd TN-65 and same story here, high gear and hills don't mix well. It'll pull most anything I put behind it just fine, just have to down shift when going up an incline. I've pulled a 9'6" hay mower on a caddy, a 4x4 round baler, a 10' pull type brush hog, and even a 24' flatbed goosneck through all of my fields with that little tractor. She does just fine with all of those attached to it. I've got around 1700 hrs on it and it is a 2000 model.
