My dealer is recommending a 6 foot rotary cutter made by Titan Implement in TN. I told him I would do some research and get back with him. When I search, I find lots of info on Titan Attachment which seems to be a Chinese importer with hit or miss quality.

Both companies list TN addresses so I am confused. Anybody have any clue if these are the same and if the Titan Implement rotary cutters are worth a flip? I am looking at the model 1206 standard duty 6 foot cutter. Would prefer something US made over a Chinese import. The price seems very good if this is a decent cutter.

Thanks.

J Bar mfg, Trion GA. US made, neighboring state. They offer a 4 wheel model with 4 blades. Cuts as nicely as a finish mower, greater ht.adjustment. Very economical pricing.

I recently purchased a Titan Implements 5' SD cutter (1205 series). I did a lot of research also before purchasing and confirmed that they are a US manufacturer. There is a sticker on it that says Made in USA, with US and imported parts. But it is very different from the Chinese import company. However, I noticed and brought up the similarities to the Kodiak cutter that I had originally looked at through Mahindra and was given a little info. Apparently, the Kodiak owners had a falling out and split up and one started Titan Implements and made minor changes to the cutters. This is only opinion of course, but I was told that Titan took the best people from Kodiak when they split, and they would prefer to and have switched to dealing with Titan only. I haven't run my cutter yet as I had just picked it up 2 days ago, but it seems to be very well built. I chose it after a lot of comparisons to the typical common name cutters - Bush Hog, Rhino, King Kutter, Woods, Kodiak, etc. Personally I think Titan is built just as well, even better than the others. Time will tell when I put it to use though.

I have a Mahindra and had started out looking at Mahindra cutters from my dealer, but for those that don't know, the Mahindra cutters are Kodiak with a Mahindra sticker. It's amazing how many people insist on a "Mahindra" cutter to match their tractor and pay hundreds of dollars more for the same thing. They could get a Kodiak and go get a Mahindra sticker for it and save their cash instead. But I prefer the Titan anyway so it didn't matter.

TMCJ,
Titan may well be a fine product. I do have experience with Kodiak, and can attest to their quality, The main reason I like J Bar is their 4 blade disc. I doubt you can demonstrate that two blades can equal the cut results of FOUR. Also four wheels provide greatly reduced opportunity for scalping or irregular cutting height results, lastly the product is made in GA, USA and very competitively priced. Most rotary cutters windrow the clippings, and perform little in the way of mulching. Feel free to report back when yours is in service and doing exactly that.

Well that sounds like a fine machine as well and apparently it has performed to your expectations. My expectations are pretty basic with windrows and lack of mulching not really being a major concern. So far a sickle bar or rough cut mower has kept things under control enough to meet our needs. I just hope that my choice of cutter is durable and reliable enough to last for years to come, with respectful use of course.

We have been selling the Titan Implement cutters for quite a while with no reported problems. Ken Sweet

I ended up finding another brand that I liked a little better at another local dealer. I got a Silver Edge SE1506. It’s considered a medium heavy cutter with 10ga deck, 100hp gear box and 900lb weight. It seems to be a nice cutter and is distributed by Lovett & Tharpe who I always found to have decent equipment. They are out of Georgia.
