For about $100 I built this fuel transfer system.. Poly container from ULINE, 15 gallons, standard 2" barrel bung on one side and 3/4" threaded opening on the other. Fuel transfer pump from Tractor supply. 3/4" threaded to 1-1/8 slip pvc fitting from home depot plus a rubber compression joint. 5' of 1" ID poly tubing. Tubing fits perfectly in fuel strainer on tractor. Easy to fill with funnel in 3/4" fitting. Hose "parks" very neatly in rubber compression fitting... Hope I did pics right. They seem to be 90 degrees off. Sorry if so

Start to mass produce them and you could sell everyone.:2cents:

Just be gentle when you crank -- the bungs on those plastic drums don't hold up too well in the long term. Heck, fuel pumps will even strain the bungs on metal 55 gal drums over time. If you look at the bungs on actual fuel transfer tanks, they are beefed up to handle cyclical motions/stresses of the pump.

One other neat installation is to use a 12 volt automotive fuel pump, the type that is meant to be installed inline.
Also some submerged types will fit into the barrel hole.
From experience I found that fuel will soon make the poly hose go very rigid. Real rubber is best.

All good advice. Thank you. Since I'm just south of 60, any ways I can find that are a little easier, the better.

My local tsc sells replacement "water jug nozzle" with a separate breather cap that are the same thread as the epa style gas cans , and all you have to do is drill a hole to stick the vent in

If the U shaped discharge pipe is threaded into the pump you could use 3/4" fuel transfer hose with a standard nozzle. When I got tired of the ridiculous carb cans (and lifting them to fuel tractor) I put a 50g transfer tank in my truck with 12v pump and auto shut off nozzle. As I age, I try to find easier ways to accomplish repetitive tasks.
Before installing the auto shut off nozzle I occasionally overfilled the tractor... What a pain.

Very curious to know if anyone can see the pictures I posted with this. First time trying pictures. All I can see is a place holder saying "attached thumbs". Is this normal? Thanks

I tend to use gravity and clear plastic tubing. Set a 5 gallon on the hood, insert tube, apply vacuum, put hose in tank.
If I ever fill my 300 gallon diesel tank I've a rotary pump set up, but right now life demands simplicity.
