Has anyone here had good luck with tire sealants such as slime and liquid ballast ?
I ask because I would like to use both, but have been told that the sealant is likely to "wash into" the ballast, stay suspended and not get to the hole when it is needed.

Who is using what combinations ?

e.g. slime, prestone, other
in combination with rimguard, calcium chloride, windshield washer fluid, other

Any failures ?

tnx,

I should add that this is for a set of tires that are still "DRY", so I would be able to install the sealant, run it around to spread it, maybe wait for an ideal time and/or temperature, before filling with ballast.
I have the Haltec gun and a small pump, so I can do the filling myself at any time. A local dealer will sell me ballast by the gallon so that I don't have to trailer the tractor there.

I don't know of anything that would work.

I've been running this product for over a year in all 4 of my PT-425 tires that are loaded with WW fluid. I haven't had ANY problems since. Before that, I'd had 4 thorn-type punctures in about 3 weeks, working in the woods...

It's not cheap, but it seems to work:

MULTI-SEAL CORPORATION Hydro Seal Tire Sealant

Thanks for the link! I've been going nuts trying to figure out how to stop a slow air leak in my water loaded tires, can't figure how they loose air but no water, looked all over and find no thorns, nails, nothing!

Thanks for the link KentT.
I'll call them to discuss RimGuard (specifically) and other juices - citrus, etc.

Hydro_Seal is about $235 per 5 gallon pail, plus about $25 to $30 freight to Massachusetts. They don't have any distributorships, everything comes out of Texas.
BTW, 17.5 x 24 tires take 208 oz each, 12 x 16.5 take 100 oz each = 616 oz total, equals about 4.8 gallons - Yeah, it would take a 5 gallon pail.

I think I'll try the Simonize Seal-Tite suggested by RimGuard.

Sounds about like what I paid last year... I can't recall exactly, other than it was over $200 plus shipping. Was much cheaper than the quotes I got for foam-filling though...

Right, against foam it is probably a good deal.
Against {some other sealants that MIGHT work with ballast} it is a lot of money vs a crap shoot. The RImGuard folk admit to not much data, but say anecdotally that prestone seal-tite has been found to work.
FWIW, etc.

BTW, not all windshield washer fluid is created equal {equally}.
The Walmart cheapie stuff states on the label specifically that it, "offers freeze protection to 30 degrees above zero" say WHAT ! That is just 2 degrees F below freezing - spelled U_S_E_L_E_S_S !!!
Locally (Massachusetts) I would have to buy $1.99 a gallon washer fluid to get protection below zero F., which is about what the local tire place quoted me for chloride (installed). Citrus juice is $3.00 a gallon if I bring barrels and pick it up, RimGuard is $3.09 a gallon - also pumped into my own barrels.
I want to do the sealant thing first, but I can't see ~$250 for it (right now).
