I'm wondering if anyone knows about covers to shade the sun from tractor tires. We have them for the RV - they came with it new. Be nice to have something for the tractor as well.

Depending on the size I'm sure something would fit. A quick Google search only had up to 38" dia. x 12" wide though.

I,ve never heard or seen such a thing, but I would think any canvas shop could make you up some if you gave them a cardboard template of the diameter and width you need for both the front and back tires.

in the summer uv, i like the ease & breathe ability of sun shades. cuts way down on uv/heat, plus rodents usually avoid compared to tarps.
easier to keep down as well since air flows through, regards
i got a larger one than pictured for my rig

Interesting. On your big machine do you drape it like a tarp or is it suspended somehow?

good point. i drape over machine incl exposed rear fenders/wheels. only 4 tie downs on corners, works like a charm & far easier than anchoring a tarp. in addition, i leave hood up to discourage rodents as well. in terms of rodent mischief, i have found parking the machine away from growth & brush further reduces problems as rodents are cautious of open spaces.

in addition, don't think a vinyl tarp in contact w/painted surfaces does it any favors in the mid day sun. plus rodents are more reluctant to nest in a semi transparent compared to tarp. works like a charm, but i know a shed is far more favorable, working on that, regards
in terms of dimensions, i'd err to order a sun shade well over the tractor size

I'm sort of leaning that way. We've always tarped our tractors using light weight traditional green cotton tarps - never vinyl. But I only tarp them them down halfway to keep it breathable. I may just try your idea. Wind is not a problem here with the traditional tarps. Tying the corners is all that is needed.

can't really say, but think the shade will block 60-70% of heat/uv, but not sure. have no doubt the surface heat of sun shade is considerably less than tarp. regards

Do yourself a favor and cover the whole tractor even with a tarp. That sun is going to attack all the plastic parts, seat and hoses even more than the tires. Then there’s the rain and moisture around the dashboard. Electronics and water aren’t friends and I don’t care how well .” Sealed” they say it is.

`good point, which is why i cover tractor with sun shade in extreme heat, & regular tarp during the moisture of winter/spring
in addition, i just place a 5 gal bucket over the gear shifters when not in use.

We have all seen what the sun/UV can do to a tractor. I keep my tractor in a large carport stall when not in use. First tractor - after 27 years all rubber and plastic - still in good condition.

Yes - it does make a difference.
