Just purchased a Terex 760B. It's a monster compared to my 27hp Kubota. I've seen backhoes in use before and have been told different things about the use of stabilizers. Some say that the tirs should just be off the ground so that they absorb most of the shock. I have seen many in operation that extend the stabilizers as far as then can, raising the machine to its highest point. Any insight from RKI's would be appreciated.

For most things the stabilizers need to simply hold the tractor still. It is not necessary to raise the tractor up in the air, unless you need to see better or it is necessary to manuever the bucket. You can achieve a wider stance with the tractor lower and closer to the ground.

I used one of those for 3 months about 5 years ago and came very close to buying it, pricing was good too I think with extendahoe cab and ac about $46,000 plus tax. Bought the 110tlb because it was more versatile and easier to trailer but cost more:( go figure.
