Kubota B8200 HST 4wd Loader tiller Mid mount mower
I have a B8200 4wd HST it was about 11 years ago when my parents bought land in Jordan NY. (I wasn't born) My Dad was filling in a ditch in front of house. (which wasn't done). He was bringing dirt in the loader and he stop it at the ditch. but the jerk must of started to get the Big Orange off balence. Big orange stated to tip frontwards. He said the back wheels were of the ground 3-4 feet. The He hit float and it came back down. I am 10 and I've taken Big Orange and put on 2 wheels (not on perpus. It's very scary. Post your stories here.

P.S. I have turf tires that are 18 years old should i replace. There not worned down.

Good morning Alex.
If your rear tires show no weather checking and has good thread also hold air,I see no use to replace them.

I believe most of us tractor owners had close calls over the years and thats how we learn.

Alex be careful and think twice act once.......okay.

Take care and have fun with your Kubota.

Alex - I hope you always, and I mean always, wear your seatbelt. If you do, and your tractor has a ROPS (rollbar), you should be OK . If you were my son and either the tractor didn't have a ROPS or I caught you even once without a seatbelt, it would be a long, long time before you ever used the tractor again.
Nothing in this world is more precious or more worth protecting than our children.

Give us a little better information on which property is yours. One has a large U shaped driveway with the house set pretty far back from the road.

I have never tipped any tractor and do not plan to start now. I was driving a tractor when I was 10 years old, but that was quite a few years ago. I had no idea at the time of all the things to do or not to do to stay out of trouble with the tractor. I just drove slow and stayed in the field that I was working in. Only plowed and cultivated. Didn't even know they made mowers for tractors then. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

PaulB,

I know I'm really conservative on this subject, but any piece of machinery that requires a ROPS and a seatbelt is no place for a kid! My son is 12 and he has only driven the mighty TC18 in the yard with the seatbelt on while being directly supervised. I know some farm kids do a lot, but their brains are still that of a child.

Bet you didn't grow up on a farm!

When I was 8, I had to feed and milk and take care of the cattle after school. The reason I said in a previous post that I didn't have a mower for the tractor was that at 10, I also got to cut 2 acres of Johnson Grass several times that was 6 ft high with a manual swing cutter. Took several days, but I got it cut. City kids don't have a chance to learn what they are capable of doing and sometimes fail to understand the forces of nature and machinery until it is too late. People learn responsibility somewhere in life. Some at 8 and some at 30 and some never.

Wouldn't see someone raised on a farm driving a vehicle into a river running over a road and getting washed away. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I've had a few incidents with my kubota where there has been daylight under more than one of my tires and with experience I've learned to minimize this and what to do when it happens, most important is keeping the load low when transporting and raise the load only when your about to dump and keep the machine as level as possible when going high with a heavy load. My reflexes have gotten programmed to either dump or drop if things start getting hairy, I'm always hearing sad storys of people who are first time tractor operators getting into trouble because they didn't do the right thing when they should have. I actually knew of a guy who tried to stick out his leg to stop his small yanmar from tipping right before it ended up on top of him and crushed his leg, he was lucky enough to live to tell about this one and he admitted that he never even thought to drop his load when all this was happening. My first scary experience with a tractor was on an old Ford 2wd with a loader and box blade. We had just loaded up the bucket with rocks til it was overflowing and off I headed down this steep trail though some trees about 100 feet to the flat below. even though I was in a low gear and finally on the brakes I was doing about 25 miles an hour by the time I hit the bottom. I even dropped the box blade which just banged and danced away uselessly as I slid, I never even concidered dropping the bucket for fear of spilling the rocks which we hand picked, funny how a brain thinks. Luckily there was no obsticals at the bottom and I managed to get things back under control. If you have a 4wd tractor always the front wheels engaged on uneven ground. By the way I was around 10 when this happened to me.

I can't remember whether I was 11 or 12 when I started using a hand cranked 2-cylinder John Deere, but I do remember enough of the dumb things I did that I figure it was only by the grace of God that I survived.

You had to start a little earlier than I did, Wen. I didn't have to take over the milking until I was 10, which was the same year I started raising registered Berkshire hogs. And folks in my area called that blasted "manual swing cutter" a yo-yo. Sure hope I never have to use one of those things again./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

And, yep, I never cease to be amazed at folks who drive into water across the road./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
