Hi guys,
Just wanted to let you know about an issue I experienced with my tilt steering wheel (on the 2538, but I suspect many other models are similar). Being an old fart, with bad knees, I tend to "help" myself onto the driving platform using the step and pulling "somewhat" on the steering wheel.

Well... a few days ago, I broke something, and the tilt steering wheel became a 4-way tilt, not just up and down.

I took the dash off, and a stabilizing bracket (made out of cheap & weak pot metal) broke allowing the stabilizing pin to fall off. No way to re-weld it, and I wouldn't want to anyway due to the thin gauge "steel" they use. Luckily there is another pre-drilled hole just above the stabilizing pin location, where you can insert a good quality bolt, washer and nut. Easy fix, but just a PITA. Loosened upper and lower dash components, and moved them out of the way, and inserted the bolt, washer and nut and re-assembled dash. Took about 10 minutes is all, but still...

So the moral of the story is, don't pull yourself up using the steering wheel like I did. Although, my fix is much better than Mahindra's OEM bracket.

Most “old farts” have good info- this is no exception!
