Hello, new to the forums here, but have a question. Recently purchased a TM850. I've cut with TM800 and it cuts nice and close to the ground. When we got this TM850, it cuts well, but we're having a few issues. For one, I can't get it to cut as low to the ground as the TM800. The 800 probably cut 1/4" or 1/2 off the ground and this 850 seems like its cutting at like 1" or a bit more. I have already messed with the tilt cylinder bushing and currently have it on 5. Also, the mower tends to streak. When we got it the blades were very worn out. The cutter wasn't used much but the owner just didn't change them. I flipped the blades and they seem to be cutting well. I notice the streaking happens then I see a clod of grass come out and it stops. Thanks for the help in advance

I'm not familiar with a Vermeer TM850 but did own a TM800. I personally don't like to cut crops close to ground because it takes much longer for crop to re-grow after cutting. I like for stems to be 3''-4'' tall. I think disc cutters cut better in thicker crops. How many approximate tons of hay are your fields producing per cutting? What type crop are you cutting?

Hey Tx Jim, funny, I see you're from Coyote Flats. I am located in Joshua, Tx. To answer your question, we are cutting coastal/winter grass. I think I did resolve the problem last night. I was cutting again and noticed the hay was staying trapped in front of the cutter bar. I raised the front corner of the skirt and tied it back with a piece of wire and it started cutting good. I think the air was getting trapped underneath and pushing the grass forward instead of backwards. All we need now is for storm season to actually do something and dump some rain on us. Thanks for the help thus far.
