Mitsubishi MT2001D
Mitzi (my tractor) had new rear tires, and the hydraulic hose on the f/e loader repaired. We've been working hard all summer :)
I've taken the brush cutter off and stored it in the tractor stall.
I would like to put the tiller on and start working ground to to the garden in the spring
BUT ... Girl Mechanic has no idea how to put the tiller on, really
I am guessing that I need a new PTO shaft for the tiller? And I have a spare top link and all the pins
Tiller has been sitting awhile, what do I need to grease?
Thank you for the help!!!

Is the PTO shaft missing? As far as grease, there should only be a couple of places.

Maybe post pictures of your tiller so we can see what you are seeing. That would help us give better advice.

Pictures of the tiller and the 3PH area of your tractor would be helpful.
Tiller’s gearboxes typically are much closer to the tractor than the gearbox on a mower. Thus you will most likely need a shorter PTO shaft for the tiller.
There should be grease fittings in each yoke of the PTO shaft. As well as a couple on each end of the cover.
Depending on the tiller, you may have no grease fittings at all (sealed bearings for the tiller shaft) or one at each end of the tiller shaft.
Check the gearbox for oil as well as the case on the drive side of the tiller for oil. The best source for determining what type of oil is the owner’s manual. Next would be a search based on brand and model.
Connection to your tractor is to connect the lower lift arms (sometimes much easier said than done, this is why so many discuss a quick hitch system) and the top link, adjusting the top link for a tiller typically where it sits level on its skid plates on the ground. Then connect the PTO shaft to both the tiller and tractor if not already connected to the tiller.
Good luck.

Make sure the PTO shaft is not to long. If it is things may get damaged when the tiller is lifted to full height.

For checking the shaft length, leave it unhooked at the tractor end. Lower the implement to the ground and see if the shaft telescopes together enough to clear the tip of the tractor spline. Raise the implement a few inches and try again. Repeat this process all the way to full height.

If you have enough telescope that the shaft clears the tractor spline through the full range of motion, you're good to go. If not, you'll need to trim the implement PTO shaft...both ends of the inner and outer components.

The tiller does not have a PTO shaft. My late hubby bought it years ago and now i finally get to use it. Took me a while to find the perfect spot for the garden, and I'd like to get started ... but i have to plan and plan first
I'll get pics today ... you're right, it would be helpful :)

Then you will need to buy a shaft and cut it down (if necessary) to the correct size as has been mentioned. Wrong length PTO shaft can do significant damage to either the shaft, tractor, or implement.
X2 on the research for a manual for service. My tiller has grease fittings, gear box oil, and chain case oil. If the tiller has been exposed to the elements the gear oil(s) are very likely to be water contaminated.
Good luck with your garden.
