Tiller Tiller Recommendations for JD850

Anybody have any suggestions for a tiller for a JD 850 2wd/23 HP?

Size, brand, durability, etc.

I have looked at the JD 647 & 655, and the King Kutter 5'.

I would consider used as well.

I am primarily preparing existing sod and uneven fields for a lawn around the house and shop. 5.5 acres at the most. I am not looking to do it all at once.

I run a 5' King Kutter II tiller on my JD 850.
The tractor runs it fine, and the tiller works great.

Did it cover your tire tracks or did you move your rear wheels in to compensate?

The KK tiller is offset slightly off to the right.
I have turf tires on my 850 and the tiller covers all the right side tire tracks
and most of the left,
I till each pass with the right side of the tractor/tiller against the previous pass. This way all my tire tracks are covered.
I've had the KK tiller for 6 years without a problem. Good tiller, works great.

I've got a 48" Farmtrac that I used to use with my old Ford and a 72" Brush Hog that I hang on my JD. The Brush Hog is a real heavy beast and does a great job, but that little Farmtrac has given me a lot of service with no trouble at all. I certainly can recommend either brand.

Welcome to TBN ! I really like my CCM M-160 (58") tiller. It is a gear driven model. I have to admit that I am biased against chain driven units (w/o real reason), and my 23+ PTO HP has sufficient power to break new ground. Jay

Instead of starting a new thread I'm jumping in with the same question as kfickler. I have a B3030 and considering a Landpride reverse till 58" is anyone familiar with this tiller and simular H.P., Also a ballpark price with clutch drive ? I was quoted $1899. painted Kubota orange.

Any advice is appreciated!!!

Just to update everybody that offered recommendations. I bought (on sale) a KK II 60" and used it over the weekend in a combination of conditions. JD 850 handled it very well. I would seriously consider a 72" if I did it again. I would also consider other brands, but this was just too close and too cheap to pass up.
