i tried the KK 4ft tiller a couple years ago, ended up using it on my 50hp tractor instead of the 21hp because of the weight and having to cut the drive shaft: but i would still like a tiller for the 21hp kubota: even a 42 inch tiller would probably be ok. any suggestions?? KK makes two different 4ft models, i don't think the one for compact tractors is the same color??, but its also about $100 higher at TSC: looking at about $1200 anyway.

Take a look at the CCM GEAR DRIVE tillers. We have the tiller that will match your compact tractor and your desired use.
Just remember Gear Drive Tillers have no chains to adjust or break!

I have a used 4-ft Yanmar RS-1200 rototiller that I bought in Aug05 for $300 to use with my 21-hp Kubota B7510HST. Got it from my local grey market tractor dealer.

The tiller doesn't have a shear pin so I had to get a $70 slip clutch for the PTO shaft. Also had to use the 33-in long lower lift arms from my MF-135 in place of the standard 26-in long ones on the 7510 in order to get more space for the PTO shaft to fit. Works OK.

I've had a 48" CCM hanging off the back of my JD 4110 (19hp at the PTO) for the past 2 spring seasons. No problems with virgin VT soil (read rocky, clay, glacial till). I till about 30 gardens each spring and I hang my head in shame when I say I've done very little in the way of maintenance on the tiller and it has held up very well.

I have CCM's M-160 (58") tiller and live a little south of 2nstonge with the same type of "soil". I have had no difficulties with this tiller. Jay

local TSC has both KK 4ft tillers in stock right now: the XB, which is chain drive instead of gear drive, is also 175 pounds lighter: color orange, and they want $1390 for it: a nearby ATWOODs has had the 5ft KK tiller on sale for $1050: i guess i'll start looking for a used tiller:
