First Choice 48" from Sweet Tractors, great service, great price. The tiller works awesome with the BX. Its well made, shipped fully assembled and lubed.

Woods makes a line of estate series tillers that are very good, We sell the 52" for $1295 (local pickup). The build quality is much better than the "first choice" units. I would find a local dealer and grab one there. Chances are it would be cheaper once you get freight involved.

A friend of mine bought a 42" Befco for his BX22 last year and loves it. It's a very nice beefy tiller but seems a little on the small side.

My 48" is no problem for the BX, a 50" should be Ok as well. A 52" will work but it may take more passes with the depth adjusted not too deep(for ground breaking). The 48" is nice because it covers the tire tracks. I'd go with the 48" unit. The Woods didin't look like it was built any better in my opinion.

I have a 2200, and I use a KK 48 inch tiller with it. Does excellent work even in clay soils. Seems to be a wee bit heavy at times, as front end weight would be a good thing, but on level or slight inclines mine does great.

925.00 at a local dealer in town

There was a thread running a few days ago about a tiller for a BX23. It had about 19 replies. You might want to go back and read it. I run a Muratori MZ2s 37" tiller on my BX2200. The tiller requires 10 HP min. at the PTO. The combination pulverizes my hard adobe clay (even when dry and brick hard).

Unless a dealer has the exact model on his lot that you the customer have, a dealer is going to estimate what length is needed for your tractor and cut to length. You can always cut off but can not add on to a PTO complete unit so dealers will estimate long rather than short. I've had BX owners say they needed PTO cut from 22"-32" collapsed. Which is correct? Someone might have a quick hitch and need a longer PTO. What if the PTO is cut for 22" and that customer wants to use a quick hitch later? That customer may have to purchase a new PTO because his original one is too short.

What is involved in cutting off a PTO shaft? Is it a hacksaw operation or does it require more precision? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A hacksaw works just fine; I've done it with a manual hacksaw and it wasn't as bad as I expected. Naturally it's quicker if you have a power saw. Just be sure you measure right and if your implement manual doesn't have instructions, you can go to Bush Hog's web site and pull up a PDF manual for a tiller and you'll find illustrated instructions.

I have a Land Pride RTA1550 (50 inch), new this spring on my BX23. Have used it several times already and no problems so far. Seems to be a good size for this tractor, no strain on the engine and covers the tire tracks plus a bit more. My soil is pretty heavy clay to clay/loam.

I just bought a Howard HR200 50 inch tiller for my BX22. It's this years replacement model for Howard's HR3 series tillers. Used it last Saturday. In my sandy loam, skid shoes all the way up, one pass and I was done. No problems with power at all. I've got a little heavier soil in another area but that wasn't dry enough to get into yet.

Works great, good fit/finish on the tiller I'm very pleased with it. Not the cheapest tiller out there though. I found cheaper tillers but kept going back to the Howard when deciding.

Tiller has a sticker stamped made in Spain, Gearbox is made in Italy and the tines are stamped France. Looks like I have a multi-national tiller....

The only complaint I have is that they changed the color from orange to red this year. Dosen't quite match my BX.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
