Have a BX 2230 and a just got a 6x10 utility trailer with three foot sides that I will use to move the tractor from place to place. The trailer has four tie down rings welded to top of the side rails. I'm trying to figure out the best way to secure the tractor. Ratchet tie downs appear to be the best option, probably the wide 2 in type? One person suggested adding rings to floor of trailer and then use a tie-down strapped across the midsection of the tractor.

From my experience...which is hauling my b7100 with front bucket and backoe the 500 miles from uk to central france is that the 2" tie downs are purfect. I use them all the time now. Only thing I would suggest is to when tying down I use an old trouser leg from a pair of jeans to wrap round the tie down where ever it touches an edge on the tractor as it will fray and then tear...not good. This happened to one of the tie downs on my trip. If you can tie down the axles or preferably the wheels, This allows the tractor to jump around on its supension and it is quite happy. I only use the three. One per axle and one to stop the backhoe dropping too much.

Good luck with the haul

The only time my Kubota was trailer was delivery from the dealer. 1 strap across the middle and a chain through the FEL and a chain through the rear drawbar. Use carpet scraps to protect the straps from sharp edges.

Hello Dave,
I have a BX22 and I tie it down with 2 inch racheting type straps. I hauled it 200 miles from my upstate house down to long Island New york. I did make provisions on the tractor as you can see in the photos.(common "D" rings) I also towed it with a Chevy S10 with no problem.Anyone familar with RT. 17 knows of the hills heading west towards Rosco N.Y. like I said the S10 pulled the hills with no problem.

I'll learn how to use this forum yet.
Here is the front tie down picture.

Okay, I use 4 2" tie downs for a rather heavy tractor. My 5030HSTC with a loader and 84" box blade weighs in at around 7000 pounds. I've had to make some "emergency" stops at times due to morons pulling out in front of me and I've never had an issue. My only advice is to always carry a roll of duct tape to wrap up any additional strap that is loose and to always wrap up the ratcheting handles on the straps. On long trips I've had ends come loose and ratcheting handles bounce up and down and loosen. They don't do that when they are duct taped! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Like others said, be sure to use something to prevent the ends from scratching your tractor as well as preventing the actual strap from rubbing a spot on the tractor. Happy hauling!

If at all possible it is best to cross, or X the tie downs front and back as this prevents side to side movement as well as for and aft. If you can't cross them try to have them non-parallel or V.

This ratchet straps are strong but chafing will cut them like a ribon with a razor blade

I use the ratchet straps from S-line. I have the 5000 lb 2" motorsport version with the twisted snap hook which are made just for D-rings. Next time I will get the 10,000 lbs version for a little more added security.

When hauling the 4 wheel drive beasts have them in 4 wheel drive low. This locks the brakes on the front and the back.
