I'm looking into getting a mechanical thumb for my grand l3540 with the bh80x. I have a 16" bucket. I'm looking at something that will mount right on without any modifications and the least expensive but still able to do the job. I appreciate your input...

I just got the BH 90x with hydraulic thumb and the salesman was telling me that Woods was working on thuumbs for all of their backhoes. Mechanical or Hydraulic I do not know.

If you use the search function I am sure you can find some manufactures that others on the site have used.

I have a brotek on my bh80x and it works great. Best mechanical thumb for the money in my opinion.

built my own, it works great and cant imagine life on the b/h w/o it. I looked at hundreds of pics of them before i decided to turn on the welder. kubota is now putting the mounting plates on alot of the b/h's. You might call your dealer and ask him how much to buy a pre made orange one

Doesn't your BH80X already have a thumb mounting bracket on the dipper stick? Or is the dipper stick with the mounting bracket only shipped out when you order the thumb option? If so, that's an odd way to do it.

Most manufacturers have just one dipperstick with the thumb bracket mounted, then the thumb and mounting hardware is the optional portion. Even Kubot is doing it that way on their factory backhoes that offer an optional thumb.

If Woods is not shipping just one dipper stick with the thumb bracket already attached, then that is a pretty bad marketing strategy, as their customers can't go back to the dealer later and order the thumb components. Can't imagine forcing your customers to go out and search for an aftermarket thumb when you offer it as an option on your own equipment.

It does have the mount. I just need to find a woods dealer that isn't going to rape me on the price.

We are only raping the customers because Woods is raping us...
They raised the prices $300 this year on the thumbs alone:eek:

Nice thing about the thumb is that's an item you could have shipped in from the lowest bidder, no matter where they are.

I think I have a contact for a Woods dealer that used to be pretty reasonable, back when I was looking into getting a Woods hoe. Let me know if you want it, and I'll see if I can dig it up - came from another TBNer a while back.
