I am building this antlered coat hanger. The idea is to hang on it my hunting equipment out of the way but in style.
Using antlers for furniture is little bit kitschy, but I don't give a hoot. Anyway, more I work with antlers, more I admire it as a material. They are incredibly strong, but easy enough to cut and shape. Just for the kicks of it I tried to cut internal thread and it not only worked, but the thread is reasonably strong. I have to say I was quite surprised with the result.

my in-laws have a very simple antler coat rack made up of 4 antlers. They just screwed one in on each side of a rouch cut piece of 2x2 oak that hangs down from the open rafters in the basement.

very effective + holds tons of weight... I've seen 15 wet winter coats hanging on it during parties with no problems

its not pretty to look at, but its SUPER effective.. its by the basement door which is where they go in+out when its messy... not where they greet fancy company

Not only can you thread antler but if you make a mistake with hole size, you can epoxy the hole, wax the bolt and create a new thread! I have a bunch of sheds that I use as hangers in the sun porch of the cabin. If you don't want to make holes in them a litle perforated strapping can be used to mount them in a "rustic" fashion. They may seem kitschy until you see the price of some of those resin cast antler accessories like lamp, handles etc -- then they seem like designer, handcrafted folk art:D
