That's a very cool machine, and there might come a time when they are collectors' items as well..
I had lots of reservations about the transmissions, but after asking questions about them and seeing them answered here, it pretty much points to them being better than a hydro. The one and only thing about the 8n that I didn't particularly like (aside from the fact that I could never afford one, lol) is that when they have a loader, which to me would be a requirement, the really cool retro look isn't as pronounced..
The issue of parts that is mentioned is extremely scary to me. With the profusion of so many different models over the years, it just seems logical that parts are going to be hard to find for our tractors a few decades down the road. I'll be underground by then, but would like my tractor to hold value for whoever ends up with it. I have seen already, and with a lot of frustration, that it has become almost impossible to find parts for my practically-brand-new 87 Dodge pickup and I have to regretfully keep an eye out for a replacement even though she hasn't turned 100,000 yet.
