I have a 40 acre property and a brush hog for heavy work with a Kubota L4600, to be replaced at some point in the future with something like a MF4707.
Normal residential big box lawn tractors are a waste of money where I mow. My L4600 and brush hog are simply too long and tall to mow everything, not to mention scalping and tire tracks around the house and barns.
I have a line on a Grasshopper 928D with a 72" deck for about a third, or less, of what a B-series Kubota would cost me in similar condition.
Both would get under trees, in corrals, barns, etc with minimal fuss. Both would mow around the house with much less stress and with less fear of hurling stuff in the house, vehicles, etc.
The little tractor would have more utility pulling small trailers with fencing supplies, running a chipper, etc with a much higher initial acquisition cost. A zero-turn mower sure would be nice mowing the orchard, around the house, etc.
Will the Grasshopper hold up to this type of use? It seems pretty heavily build but, 28HP and 6' of deck seems a little underpowered if your not on a golf green.
Thoughts? Pro's and Con's? Am I overlooking something obvious?
TIA,
Sid
