Those of you that have used Uship before

Can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for in past posts or on Uship's website. Any of you that have ever used Uship before I have a few questions.

Do you pay the person that you accept prior to the item being shipped, do you pay them when they arrive at the agreed upon location and you inspect the shipment, or does it vary with each person as to how they go about accepting payment?

Is it usually cash, credit card, or what is the usual preferred payment?

I wrote one check, paid the driver in cash. but it was with another freight forwarder? One for the driver and one for the contact company...After delivery and inspection..It was a One ton hot-shot rig that delivered only a couple hours late?

I get stuff shipped to Betta services in Orville Washington all the time, it is $4US per package, it can be more if they have to use a forklift and If you want a shipping style container, 4x8 it can be $100.US they call me when the pacage is in and how many. if there are more than one.
They are great, Betta, just an independent, Uship is there no one uses them.

Usually you pay the transporter when the delivery is made, in cash.

Call around, I had good luck with hauling freight lines 716 549-1213 if he can't do it he will give you a solid referral with a trusted company. I've shipped some odd stuff before and he has always been up to the task and competitive.
U-ship seems to be a loose network of independent contractors and that would scare me if I had valuable cargo.

I used U-Ship for the first time a couple of weeks ago to get a mower here from about 450 miles away.

You place your listing, and when you accept a shipper's bid, you then pay U-Ship. You can use PayPal or a credit card to do so. U-Ship holds your credit card information and gives you a code. Once you receive your goods, you give the code to the hauler, (who then logs into their user account on U-Ship), and the funds are instantly transferred to him/her. Everyone has a smart phone or laptop nowadays, when I got the mower the hauler entered the code as we were standing in the back of his pickup....we had just rolled the mower off his truck and into mine.

U-ship's "cut" for my shipment was $19.99. I was very satisfied with my transaction, but the one thing that can be inconvenient is acting as a "middle man". You don't get the hauler's direct contact information until you accept their bid and pay. For me, that meant accepting the bid, getting his contact info and emailing it to the person that had the mower I bought. That person emailed me back and I sent their info on to the person doing the hauling. U-Ship doesn't give you the hauler's contact info until you accept a bid and pay because if they did....folks would contact each other directly outside of U-Ship, and try to work out a deal to get items hauled without U-Ship getting their cut. Since it's free to list a shipment, people would take advantage of the free listing to get bids and then cut U-Ship out of the loop.....

I used them for a tractor shipped about 950 miles. I paid a deposit with the credit card. Then piad the drive at delivery with cash. Be sure to check the bidding shippers certifications for insurance and such. It seems like the I checked the Federal Trade Commisions web site to see the info. Some shippers are insured for intrastate, and some for interstate. I put insurance on the tractor before it was picked up. I was very pleased with the transaction, all went well with it.

How did you find this? Did you google your company as you were put on it, as the web surfing make sure were not getting slammed on the web guy? Seems odd that you would just happen upon this site and register with your company in your name just to provide info? Im not saying i dont think you work there its just strang to see you pop up for this post it all?

@clemsonfor - It is quite common for internet based companies to receive alerts when they are mentioned online. The purpose of this practice is to keep in touch with the customer base, and of course to manage our online presence to the best of our ability.
