Comparison Thinking of trading my 2004 L3130 tractor for a L5030...

I have an opportunity to trade my L3130 with 900 hrs for a 2002? L5030 with 1500 hrs. Mine is a glide shift and the L5030 is hst. My father is the owner of the bigger tractor and is going to trade it in for a new, bigger one. He asked me if I wanted his and he would trade in mine. I like the idea of 20 more horsepower and hst. Mine has a woods backhoe and he has a Kubota backhoe. Does this sound like something I should consider? Thanks in advance for the imput.

I had a L3130 HST(2004) kept it for four years and traded for a L4240HSTC.Huge increase in lifting power and does all my chores easily.I would do it.Your big advantage is you know your father's tractor and I am sure you have run it.1500 hrs would not concern me if I knew the owner.I didn't have a BH on my L3130 but have read owners found them under-powered.

Thanks nybirdman, I am leaning towards the trade for the reasons of more power. My backhoe works pretty well but I have been moving dirt many times where my tractor couldn't lift my bucket when full. I am very familiar with my dad's tractor and like the hst over my glider shift. I mow about 5 acres and think the hst would be better for this. I also have pallet forks and the lifting capacity on the L5030 would be a big help also.

I would sure do it. I had a 2003 L5030 which I traded in for my L5740, it had close to 1500 hours on it and it got snapped up within a few days. I talked to the man who bought it and he was really happy to get it. The only reason I traded was to avoid the L60 Series. The L5030 is a great little tractor in my experience, powerful, but small enough to be very nimble.

Wow, thanks everyone! You have taken away any doubts I may have had and will go ahead and make the trade. Now I have to get mine cleaned up so the dealer can come look at it and determine a trade in value. Appreciate the input and look forward to getting my new to me tractor.

Thanks for all the good advice. The guy from the kubota dealer is coming here tomorrow morning to look at my tractor to determine a trade in value. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes.
