I am looking at purchasing a new Billy Goat brush cutter. About $2900. I want the three speed with the Honda engine. I see other brands out there, but having recently rented a Billy Goat I believe it will work for me.

Anyone have their opinion on this brush cutter?

Thanks,

I see they make models with an articulating mowing head. That's nice if you have uneven terrain (as opposed to a flat/ non-pivoting deck).

I have a fairly flat large field that I want to clean up once a year. Five hour job. Have heard about D R Mowers too, but never used one.

I guess the Billy Goat is quite popular since they are used in the rental industry. Never have heard much about them as to maintenance etc.

Hope I make the best choice since I am buying new.

Thanks

Maintenance is straight forward and it is a nice machine. You're smarter than I as you took the time to rent it first to be sure that it works for your application. Enjoy!

You might want to look at a Grillo or BCS 2 wheel tractor. Costs more but does more.

I got one of the cheap predator brush mowers and I have been happy with it for 3 years. It started as my only way to mow the field as I saved up for our LS tractor. I still use it in places that are too steep or tight for the big rotary cutter. While it works well it痴 a real workout using the walk behind mower and I never want to spend 6 hours at a time with it again. It is still nice for cleaning up a little in the woods.
