I have been thinking of buying a 4510 for brush hogging. Anyone out there with experience to share on this model. I currently use a 3525 and put about 600 hours on it last year just running a BH. I would like to get out of the sun and dust a little bit with the cab. I expect to run close to 1000 hours this year. I have heard about hydraulic leak problems on this model. Anything to it?

I have a 4510 for over 2 years. Overall I like it. No hydraulic problems except it leaked at the PTO. Fairly simple fix if you are handy.
It gets hot inside in the summer and dust and dirt still make there way in.
You have to keep the radiator clean if you mow where chaft or seeds get in. It will overheat quickly unless they are brushed/blown out.
Generally a big power increase over my 33 HP Yanmar 336d.
I do have a steel plate bolted on underneath to protect hoses/filters etc. from stumps/rocks/brush etc.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Yanmars

That does lead me to another question or two if you don't mind. Do you mean the a/c won't keep up? Too much window area? I was thinking I would have to get the windows tinted to help with that. The over heating problem is something I have had to deal with on the 3525 also. And it has no prescreen filter in front of the radiator. I rigged up a spare air tank with a long nozzle to blow out the radiator periodically. Works pretty well with 70 to 80 psi. It's a small tank and I only get about 2 clean outs with it so I recharge every evening. Tractor usually sits at the customers site so it goes days or even weeks without coming home for a good cleanup.

I think it is too much glass area or not enough ac. Part may be the valve switch to turn it from heat to ac cannot turn all the way because I have a steel plate to protect the hoses/filter etc. and the unit cannot fully activate but I unsure if I am short on the ac or the heat side.
I will check the next time I am at the farm but that may be quite some time.
Now that I watch carefully and plan my mowing a bit more in blocks than all day the "overheating" issue is addressed and helps a bit on the ac. I never let the tractor overheat to a damage issue but it got to the point where it wanted to lose some coolant and I would stop well before damage. I don't think I ever lost more than a pint to a quart at the most. I watched the gauge carefully.
I only have my 336d Yanmar of 33 horsepower and my 45 horse 4510. Those extra 12 horses and weight have really helped alot. The front end loader is a bit on the marginal side however, it does not have a lot of grunt for lifting IMO but overall satisfied. Pretty good on fuel, not much worse that the Yanmar, near 1 gallon an hour for most purposes.
The 3 point hitch is a "quick release" of sorts, that helps and I converted to a skidloader type quick release on front for the bucket and pallet forks. That is sweet but I had it built too heavy and lost some lifting capacity because of it but it is so much easier and quicker. I never too quickly in the past changed buckets/forks because it was a hassle, two minute operation now so I change often as needed.
Hope this helps. I do not read this everyday so hence the delay in responding.
