Thinking about Hughes?

/ Thinking about Hughes? #21
I just checked out the new Verizon MiFi, mobile 3G hotspot. $60 month for 5 GB data limit, approx 1 Mbps downlink, 300 kbps uplink (depends on EVDO RevA is available on the nearest tower, you might get higher speeds). The speed and price is basically the same as my Hughes service, but the MiFi is mobile, and small. Of course I don't have a monthly limit. The verizon maps shows service in my area, but not in some of the areas I travel to.

We have the verizon wireless modem - it's faster than dialup, slower than T1, but will handle up to 5 computers at the same time. e get no cell reception at the house, but the verizon card does pretty good - even during bad weather. (for some reason i like being able to download the local radar images without being hooked up to a phone line or wall power)
in 3 weeks with 4 computer users in the house we've only used 2 of the 5 gigs of data.

I see sprint has the mifi also. One concern I have about dumping hughes, is they provide my email and web server space. Verizon and sprint Mifi broadband is just for access, their broadband service does not also provide mail and web space, so one just can't drop their ISP.

might try sprint, since they have a 30 day trial period, I did not see that on verizon.
