Hi All,
One of the attachments that I've wanted to add to my John Deere 2210 SCUT is a John Deere 260 backhoe.
Best price I've been able to find for this has been $5500 for the whole package from Mutton Power--and that included freight with lift-gate service. My local dealers were $6000 for the same thing, and that was without freight! The guys at Mutton seem to really want your business! But, I digress.
I just found a local equipment dealer that has a brand new 260 backhoe (hoe only) for $2500. I would need to pick up the subframe, power beyond, seat kit (to all the seat to face backwards), and bucket of my choice. It looks like I could pick that up for $1500 to $2000. Even on the high end ($2000), that's a $1000 savings over buying everything new.
Honestly, I don't have enough for the whole package right now, but I'm almost certain I'm going to spring for the backhoe now, store it in my barn, and then pick up the mounting hardware in the spring after I've had a chance to save.
At this point, my biggest concern is with the fact that the hoe has been sitting, unused, for quite some time--over a year, I believe. It's a brand new hoe, so it may not have oil in the hydraulic lines. Is it possible that sitting "dry" would have caused a bunch of seals to fail?
It has been stored indoors at the equipment dealer's shop, for whatever that's worth. He's had it listed for $3125, and decided to drop the price because he's tired of it taking up space. He wants it to sell today.
Attached are pictures. It looks immaculate.
Thoughts?
