I like the tractor, think I made a wise purchase, this is not a bashing thread but more of a hey I agree but this is what I did to overcome your issue thread.

Im prob not gonna think of everything at once, Ill add things as I re remember them and hopefully people will chime in

Maybe since Im such an important person Kubota higher ups will resolve these issues just for me

#1 issue = Backhoe seating! Are you freakin kidding me. No room whatsoever, non adjustable seat, Im not a ****** ( yet ) but Im still literally sitting right on top of the controls.

#2 issue = no 4 WD Just like most trucks 4 WD just means one in the front and on in the rear, Im spinning 2 tires constantly. Would it of really been that much trouble to install a limited diff or even a locker in the front. Give me some hubs to lock if you have to.....sumpthin

3 = Lack of hydraulic power. I deal with hydraulics and know what can be done. Seems like the hydraulics are severely de tuned maybe thats to help with having less warranty issues? Kinda borderline pathetic in my opinion and yet just enough to get enough done for the most part

4= Toolbox = pathetic and shameful .......Im gonna be on the look out for something more suitable that will hold something other than my cellphone and a toothbrush

5= Grille guard or lack of one

6= undercarriage shield, none, 3rd valve/hydraulic lines exposed ect

7= cant get off pass side. Have to walk all the way around the tractor. Gets old

8 = Lack of floor matting. I know its a tractor and its gonna get damaged but does it have to be within the first hour?

Thats it for now. Nice machine

1) None of the smaller machines has a good hoe layout. They all need swiveling seats & more legroom.

2) No small machines have anything but an open front diff. Historically most didnt even have 4wd. Really you just need to look at tire size to figure out where expected traction is. Nothing in the Kobota lineup (or most others) under 60hp, probably a fair bit higher has a locker or limited slip up front. You should be using proper rear ballast anyway, which will out traction on your rears, which have a locker anyways.

3) loader capacity on the economy Ls exceeds proper ballast capacity. 2,500psi & 9gpm or so is standard for the class. If your loader capacity is down you might need your relief valve adjusted (shimed). They can put about 15hp out via hydraulics, which is about normal compared to engine HP.

4) I replaced mine with an orange "Homer Box" toolbox from Home Depot. Believe it or not, the fancier Grands arent any better. My cabbed L4060 might be worse than my former L3200 for tool storage space.

6) Yup. Again, my Grand L4060 probably had a more exposed 3rd function line (which is about to get replaced under warranty & then I'll put a skid plate on)

7) That's pretty much all tractors due to the joystick & a lesser degree pedals.

Are you sure you don稚 have a locking diff? Pretty sure my BX had a locking diff.

Think he talking about the front. I'm quite sure it has a rear..

What tires do you have on yours. I have r1’s on mine and haven’t had a problem. It might spin on top of the ground for a second or two then it will dig a good hole till it hits the hard pan and and keeps on moving. I have used the rear locking differential once pulling a 100hp tractor up a hill.
As for the lack of hydraulics, it’s not a high gpm pump like on bigger machines, I run out of azz before I run out of lift.
Since loader controls and a few hydraulic lines are on the right side, Kubota made it harder to get off of that side for safety reasons. I can squeeze through but still bump the loader if I’m not careful.
The standard L series are economy models to make them a more affordable compact tractor. But even on a cabbed m7040 they still have a tiny toolbox. As for the tool box, grill guard, floor mats and shields, there are plenty of good ideas on here to make mods to suit your style. I did order the right side grab handle for mine like many others on her have done. They are great little tractors will do almost anything you want them to do. It just takes alittle more time and patience than dedicated TLB.

I've used a L3301 and I liked it, which is why I want a higher HP economy L. Like a L3901 or something...

1. My BH has plenty of room if I use the factory swivel/sliding seat. I chose to make a small jumpseat so I didn't have to use the swivel all the time.

2. I have selectable 4WD and a DiffLock lever

3. No observation or comment.

4. I have yet to see anyone state they got a real toolbox instead of a pencil box. We've all added out own touches.

5. Mine is part of the FEL, but I may add some expanded metal screen.

6. None here either. Considering adding something.

7. I can and have, but I prefer the left, like a car.

8 Mine has one and others have stated they took theirs off and used something else, like truck bed coating so water won't get trapped underneath.

Leave it in 4x4 til the cows come home as long as you're not on payment or cement..

Every time that I take mine out of 4WD I find myself shifting it back in again, so now I just leave it in.
