Well I went down to the closest dealer last week and bought a new RTV500, they delivered it today. Won't be able to use it much since it's pouring down rain, and the rest of the week is supposed to be pretty much the dame, rain, rain, and more rain! Not complaining, we need the rain and it does wonders for my vegetable garden, but it isn't much fun to drive around in with no roof or windshield! :(

Oh well, I did get to drive it to the back of the house and park it. I also found out that driving under limbs with the roll bars on can get you soaked! I didn't even think about the hight of the roll bars when I drove under the limbs, but I found out in a hurry! It was like someone dumped a bucket of water on me! ;)

I can't wait till the rain stops so we can get it out and start using it!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my other post and helped me see the advantages of buying the RTV500!

Andy

Congrats on your new RTV 500, I know I like mine:thumbsup: The plastic roof although very overpriced was a great purchase, it not only keeps you drier in the rain it also keeps the sun from beating on you as well. Might be something to consider as an add on later. Enjoy your new buggy:D

congrats on your new purchase. i was literally inches from buying a lightly used 2009 rtv500 from a local dealer - it already had a roof on it :D it ended up that i chose a used 2006 gator hpx instead (going to pick it up tomorrow). it's loaded with pretty much every bell & whistle that i would have wanted (roof, windshield, dump, bedliner, brush guard, rear screen) and it's got a whopping 45 hours on it. ended up being about the same price as the 09 rtv500 was, though i would have ended up buying an aftermarket dump for the rtv500. should be an enjoyable machine for you.

I bet that's the same one I looked at, you must have looked at the one at Union Farm:laughing: That one was a rental unit and the price really wasn't great in comparison to new. If that's the one does it still have the squueeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk when you turn the wheel? It ran well but man that noise was annoying. I ended up going with a new one instead, so far I really like it.

You may end up with that squeak...Have to pull the steering wheel and pull the shaft bushing and grease it. I had to do this. mine was stored indoors.

hehe, yup, that's the one. with the roof it ends up $1700-$1800 less than new. certainly not a steal, but in the range of used utvs around here, i've seen worse. i really wanted a roof, so that was a plus to me. i would have had to get one of the aftermarket linear actuators for the dump too - another $500+.

i've been looking for a decent (used but not destroyed) utv for the better part of a year. most of the used ones i've seen have been truly used, and that's putting it very politely. if you saw that one at union farm, you probably saw some of the used gators next door over the winter.

i ended up spending a little more than i wanted on the gator - it was the same as the rental rtv500, but it's a very nice clean machine. 2006 trail gator hpx, olive/black color, poly roof, full windshield, floor mats, bedliner, hydraulic dump, front brush guard, mesh screen between cab & body, and a full cover new in the box - all real jd accessories too. the real plus was that it's pretty much as clean and scratch free as a new one and it only had 45 hours on it.

Glad you found a buggy you liked that fit all your needs

Hope not, but it is somewhat common unless they corrected that..May have.

No big deal if you have to do it though.
