This thread is a place to wistfully recall that most awesome truck or tractor that you realize you NEVER should have sold and if possible someday you will find a way to get another one...

Long, long ago like in 1989 or 90, back in Oregon I had traded an amazing 68 0r 69 Ford F-250 camper special 4x4 390 V8 with a 4spd & a 2spd "brownie" for TWO 70's Ford Broncos. One was mostly parts, the other was built 302, 2" body lift, 3" suspension lift, big tires, big hood scoop for the carb, massive home-made channel iron bumper with a PTO Winch! Two gas tanks, a "slam shifter" automatic with shift kit, loud pipes, and a CB radio. 10 mpg but WOO HAA!!!! that thing was so much fun to drive!

I sold the parts bronco first, and then I ended up with a new job and a longer commute so I traded good one for an 85 VW Jetta...

I really miss both the F-250 and the Bronco. But I really would LOVE to have one of those old Broncos just for fun. It would be my version of a sports car or something.

I've owned a lot of cars & trucks, most of them darn fine vehicles, but out of all of them, a BMW, and hot rod Saleen Mustang, etc, I miss the Bronco the most.

Just a few days ago, I was at a stop light a couple cars behind a very nice early 70's bronco and got to dream a little, and show it to my girls, just in case they ever find one for sale...

What did YOU let go in a moment of need or impulse that you REALLY wish you still had?

Be well,
David

Wow.....someone's up early!!:thumbsup::laughing:
4 PM over here.....:D

When I was in Washington I bought/rebuilt and sold IH scouts......mostly newer ones, between 76-80. I had 2 I loved, a 79 Terra (pickup) and then an 80 Scout 2 diesel......had em both all fixed up, new everything, new paint, decals, etc.

LOVED those rigs, sorry to have sold them.....definitely a project on the future list!!

Frank,

My lil' brother had an IH Scout around he same time as I had my Bronco. I almost bought an IH 4x4 TravelAll (surburban type) but ended up with a 4 door Jeep Wagoneer 4x4 (I seem to recall rebuilding one head on the 390 and selling it).

And I'm always up at 5am every day. Some days earlier... :D

The 2 I mentioned we kept for several years before selling. The pickup was a deep forest green with a rebuilt 345 and dual exhaust.....that thing was BAD. (good, really:laughing:) My wife used to drive that, even she loved it.....

The scout 2 was a nissan turbo diesel.....all 101 HP. had some low end grunt and would climba tree, but not a great hiway machine....topped out around 70. BUT, got 24 MPG.....

I know a guy in Canada that has a scout graveyard......all I need is some $$$$$$....:laughing::laughing:

My black 1977 El Camino SS w/350 in it.

If I could find an El Camino or Ford Ranchero that would just RUN, I would love to buy it!

I always wanted one!

My wife had a 1972 Datsun 240z (Black of course) in the mid-1980's before I met her in 1989, and she has missed it ever since.

She did say our 2005 Jaguar sport wagon (awd) was the closest we ever came to as much fun to drive... It was a nice wagon...

Someday I plan to get her another 240z...

I'm a little younger than you guys:D, but the question is easy for me to answer.

I had a 2004.5 Dodge Ram 3500 CTD QC in Silver that I commuted to work in. One day the boss says, we can't pay you mileage anymore, and faced with a $800.00 a month fuel bill to eat, I made a knee jerk reaction, and traded it against a 2006 Nissan Maxima. Seven weeks later, I took a new job, that paid me to commute again.... Loved that truck, 20+ mpg, before all the diesel emissions nonsense. I've regained my senses and currently drive a 2011 F250 SD with the 6.7.

I also had a John Deere 3320 Cab tractor with 72" 7-Iron deck and FEL. Three years after I bought it, like a moron I determined the tractor was too big for my 11.65 acres, and traded into an x748. Don't get me wrong, the x748 is a dream to mow grass with, but it's no utility tractor....so here I sit, with an x748, AND a Kubota B2620

Here's hoping I learned my lesson.
