I mentioned in one of my threads (backhoe thread I think) that I made an auger out of an old trailer house tie down and a bicycle handlebar. I went through my files on my computer and found a picture that I took of it a few days after I made it.
I think I made it in April of 2009. This auger gets a lot of use by my dad. He loves it better than the regular post hole digger with handles. He uses it to plant flowers as well.
Oh and that thing behind it is a tamper I made from some rebar to pack the dirt in around fence poles. It works really well too.
That's one of the fence poles I had just put in with the auger before taking that picture. And then used the tamper to pack the dirt around it.
