All,

This is an incredible resource for all things dealing with the mower, tractor and heavy machinery. What forums do you all use to talk about Grass and Lawncare.

I'd like to use my tractor very effectively this year to take care of my lawn. Thus would like some suggestions on solid resources like this one on grasses, fertiliing, timing etc.

Are there any "GrassByNet" type forums out there with this level of community support?

The forum is for professional lawn care companies and landscapers, but they are very tolerant of homeowners. The "maintenance" forum is very informative. There is also a "homeowners" forum, but traffic is a bit light on it. I put in my own sprinkler system a couple years ago, and the guys on the irrigation forum were very helpful.

Years ago I designed a sprinkling system computer program. Tried to market it while living/working in FL but to no-avail. Realized then the difference between an engineer and a marketeer. The program solved the fluid equations to show the psi loss or available head pressure at each nozzle. Each pipe size was then changed to minimize the psi loss. The end result was various pipe sizes and few zones resulting in low cost. This was not the result that installers wanted to hear. I still have the program somewhere and I think it still works on present day operating systems. It's written in cbasic for the S/W guys. When I retired from Honeywell I left a number of people have it. If anyone has a great desire to follow this course, I can probably still find it and see if it still works. It is probably most beneficial to larger systems. Any seriously interested parties should email me directly at cs.bus@verizon.net as I do not daily follow the tractor site.
