Nacademus, I hear ya with all of that. Here's a video I made of the new seat:

Amazon dude, hundred bux.
You'll use those screws for the mounts. Actually, you'll just reuse all the screws/nuts, you won't need anything extra except for 2 sets of screws/nuts for the seat pivot brackets (more on that below).
The top holes are for the rails, bottom holes mount these things on the tractor. This pic was from my first attempt, but when I put everything together, I found myself sitting way too close to the steering wheel, and consequently a little too far from the backhoe even with the seat moved all the way back. So, back on my mill I went and drilled another set of holes to move the rails a little farther back.
If you're a taller dude, you might want to decrease that 2.25" dimension. Or really, since you already have it all set up for drilling, you could just drill a couple different hole sets so that you have options where to mount the rails, why not? You could maybe start a set parallel with the bottom set of holes, and then just do a few sets to the right of that. The important thing is that you be 11.250" on center between holes, for both top and bottom rows of holes. Also, on the drawing up there, note that vertical dimension of 1.491", that's the distance between top row of holes and bottom of bar, not the distance between top and bottom hole rows.
And then, mount the seat pan on the rails:
Notice how I got the cut-off switch bracket bent back like I mentioned earlier.
. You're also gonna need a drop-in t-nut, like the kind used to connect extruded aluminum profiles.
I already had some lying around from older projects. Just get them on ebay or amazon, or see if they have some at your local home center or ace.Part number or pic off amazon, I like that seat it would be nice to try on the 1705.
Jim.
Thanks I added it to my list.
Jim.
I have the stock swivel seat on my 2006 Kubota L48 TLB.Hi, new guy here! I have a new [to me] Massey GC1710, and I really dislike that rotating seat, bigtime. I hate how high it puts me on the tractor, hate how it wobbles and shifts while I'm mowing my less than level lawn, and also frankly, not a big fan of the rotating function either.
I'm looking for alternatives, but after searching online for tractor owners doing something (I read enough to know I'm not the only one hating on that type of seat), I haven't found much. I hear the GC1720 has a better seat, and that the newest 2019 models have a reclining seat, but that won't address the wobble and how high it puts the operator on the tractor. Or does it? If anybody can attest to it being lower and less wobbly, please chime in...I'll buy one and install it on my 1710
I don't see mounting 2 separate seats as an elegant solution there, so that's out for me. But I do got a couple ideas floating around in my head. One is to install a flip seat, kind of like the JD 110's had. I hear they're very expensive though, and I haven't even found one for sale online as of yet.
Another option I'm thinking is a fold-down seat, actually. Something that folds flat and then I would sit on the back of it when facing the backhoe. I found a few of these online, fairly cheap, too! Big downside obviously, no back to lean against. But most dudes lean forward anyways, staring into the ditch they're digging.
Anyways, any of you with a Kubota/MF/LS/JD etc tlb with a rotating seat found a better seat option? Please chime in.
That appears to link to a different seat. Could it possible be this one https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Tr...0&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGZfbmV4dA&psc=1Oh sorry guys, I forgot to include the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003F01VT6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No, when I click my link, that's the one. But maybe TBN directs different people to different ads...that happened here before where I posted an Amazon link, and it took some people to Ebay.
