That Kubota Color

I think I'm going to need help on this....I hope I'm not stepping on too many toes here. Believe me, this is an honest question. In my opinion the M59 works so much better for what I want in a tractor that there isn't anything else close. My wife wants us to get a new tractor and we've looked at them all. That M59 is A Great Tractor. So here I am all ready to buy a M59 and still can't get over the color. That's what is stopping me - the color. And it isn't just the tangerine color - after all, that's a matter of taste and I could maybe get over it. But the M59 is BIG! There's LOTS of that color and in a particularly aggressive shade. I like to relax when I work on my land, and a more friendly color would make the time much more enjoyable.

So I figure who better to turn to than the largest group of Kubota owners in the world? I can't be the only one that loves the way they work but has problems with the color. In fact, I know I'm not.

So what have other Kubota owners done? I'm not going to re-paint a new tractor, and could probably handle the color if the glare was diminished a bit so at least it wasn't so aggressive. Are they available in other colors? Paint? Patterns? Are there artificial oxidized coatings? Maybe a colored wax? Hey! People use colored wax on their hardwood floors don't they?

First I've heard of the color of a tractor being a stumbling block to purchase.

The colors of tractors have become trademarks of the manufacturers themselves. Imagine the FIT NewHolland would throw if John Deere came out with a blue tractor. Of course, there is Ford blue...and there are other Orange tractors and a couple Red tractors...but all have been well established and don't 'flip flop' colors.

Personally, I couldn't fathom going through the trouble of eradicating all the orange from a new Kubota. It'd be nearly impossible without a full rebuild. Plus you'd be hard-pressed to have a durable finish without disassembly and semi-professional painting tools and experience. You'd have to etch off all orange on wearing surfaces, otherwise it will poke through every pivot point the first time you operate the FEL, for example.

I don't mind the "blaze orange" one bit. It looks good when I have my chainsaw safety gear (Stihl) and have all my chainsaw stuff in the bucket (more Stihl). It is such a popular color, in fact, that when TSC came out with their "XB" line of 3PH components for subcompact tractors, what color did they pick? Kubota orange.

Perhaps you could keep the machine outside the first few years and be sure not to wax it. That will get a nice oxidized coating on most surfaces. Perhaps park it under a Cherry or other fruit/berry tree to make sure the birds have every opportunity to "relieve" you of the particularly bold color of orange. Be sure to cover the seat, though.

I'd just get a good pair of polarized sunglasses and get on with it.

Leave your new M59 outside. The sun will work wonders on the paint finish. Other then that, you will only be looking at the hood and FEL most of the time you are on it so maybe it will not be so obnoxious to you.
I can't speak for all Kubota owners, but I think I can be safe saying we bought the tractor because of its performance and ability to do the job....just like you. Color doesn't really matter. I personally hate that bright green and yellow on the JD machines. But if it did the job I wouldn't care if it was pink (well, maybe pink would not be so good ).
Not to be an a##, but get over it . You will be so impressed with what that M59 can do that the color issue will fade with time.
Buy the tractor and wear rose colored glasses .

Wow. I kinda like the color. Matter of fact, I really like the color. I guess you could use the new plastic graffics to cover it but that may be a pain in it self.

When I shopped, the color was not an issue, but then again orange was a favorite.

You've found what may appear to be your ideal tractor, and are hesitant? Afraid? To get it because the orange color will cause your mind problems as you look at it all day? Then as I look at the character you depict for yourself is what? Kubota orange?

Just get some of that camo stick on stuff for the hood and the loader arms as Happyman said! I love the orange color. trust me you will too....you just got to trust us, because when you see what that "orange" tractor will do....you will be proud its orange and not another color.

I like the color, but I've found dirt work (which its great at) dulls it noticeably with no effort!
