JD 990; Ford 3000
I posted a couple of weeks ago looking for a JD 990 for our small vegetable farm. I learned a look just reading posts on this board, and got some good advice in response to my post. Thank you!

We closed the deal for the JD 990 last week with a 430 loader, heavy duty bucket, 4WD, ag tires, block heater. It is a big step up from our 30+ year old Ford 3000, and it will vastly improve the efficiency on our farm. I am attempting to load an image with this post.

And thanks to all the info I have gathered from this site, I look forward to replacing my battery cables in about 50 hours!

Congratulations on your new tractor. That's a nice photo of some beautiful land and a great looking tractor. Good combination. Just what I like to see in a photo.

yep, congrats. That is a no nonsense tractor that, without abuse, should provide you 10yrs of trouble free service.

I base that on my experience. The only repair I have made due to questionable quality is replacing the rotted fuel lines between the injectors after 10 years on my 970.

If I wanted a new tractor I would trade for the 990

Congratulations!

I got my 990 a few months ago and love it. There's been a few times I wished for a bit more power, especially for the loader's lift capacity, but I'd probably be saying the same thing if I had an 80hp AG tractor /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Overall I'm very happy with the machine and look for excuses to use it (Oooh, the neighbor has a pothole forming in their driveway. I wonder if they need it smoothed out ....)

When I first found TBN, 990 owners seemed few and far between. Seems like quite a few people are realizing that you don't need fancy gadgetry to make a nice tractor because there are a lot more of us now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
