I've been given instruction on how and where to check the PSI on my tractor hydraulics (has to do with the pto not engaging at all) and now I've received both a high pressure gauge and a low pressure gauge. I've got a leak coming from precisely one of the points to test to the right of the hydraulic filter. So, I know I will have to add hyd trans fluid as it leaks about a half pint every day, just from sitting and leaking at a slow drip. Unfortunately, the left hand side dipstick doesn't have any hash marks on it for me to know what is full. Any thoughts? Is there another dipstick for trans fluid on the IH 454?
Once I get the fluid level topped off, I want to run the pressure tests this weekend. What I was told, seemed to assume that I check the pressure coming out of the mcv valve at the return port, and at the pto out port.

It would seem that in order to check pressure from a return, i would want attached my pressure gauge to the pipe coming in, because if its a return line, the fluid shouldn't flow out of the valve at that point. Then, that begs the question, how to I test both points to make sure I have fluid being returned and pressure coming out, as well. Im probably making this harder than it needs to be. Any specific helpful ideas are appreciated on how exactly to test the pressures that will help me solve my problem of no working pto. Bear in mind, that the 3 pt. hitch does work.
