At first, I thought my M7060 was HUGE, same for the 1400 lb, 7 foot hydraulic box scraper, which I thought was WAY too big. I was definitely intimidated a little bit. But after a couple months, I got used to it, and am very happy I went with the size I did. The guys on here who say go bigger than you think you need, is a fact.

I totally agree and think I for sure want the bigger tractor. Then I see some thread or fb post about someone doing great work with a tractor similar size as a xg3xxx or L series Kubota or whatever.

20 degrees out today, good day to test out a cabbed tractor! $25,200 for a XR4140C.

Somehow I missed this post. I think you will be happy getting an XR over the XG.
In answer to your post #3, if you have the right trailer your 1/2T should haul it fine. I'm guessing since my XR3037HC with loader is pushing 5500-5600 lb. the XR4140C with loader will be 6000-6500 plus trailer so maybe around 9K total. You will need a 9-10K rated trailer as it's too heavy for a 7K. I now have a 3/4T truck rated for a 14K trailer of which I have 2 but my previous 1/2T was rated for 11K. Not familiar with Tacoma's, What is your Tacoma rated to tow?
Most dealers will deliver a new tractor free so you may not need to transport or perhaps a friend could haul it for you if needed.

I went with the 4140. Not sure what the towing capacity is on a Tacoma but mine weighs 7070 or so with the big Backhoe. Cheap to rent a truck if necessary.

I would agree with the idea of going with a bigger size tractor than you originally thought. From XG 40hp tractor to XR 40hp you gain Hitch Lift capacity (lb.): 1,808 vs 2,756
Total weight without ballast (lbs.): 2,881 vs 3,935
Lift Capacity(@ Pivot pin) (lbs.) 2,189 vs 2,713.
All three of those will get stuff done much faster. And the XR series has many more bells and whistles than the XG and you do pay a little more for it.

I have been considering the cab versions of the xr4140 or 45 over the Kioti CK40 cab, primarily due to weight and width. The last thing I want is to end up on my side. Ck40 just rocks quiet a bit when crossing a ditch at speed and angle.

Max towing on an access cab Taco with the V6 (SR5 and up) is 6800 lbs. The Tundra SR5 and up get the 5.7L and up to 10k+ depending on cab/bed configuration. The Taco does not have a brake controller std, while the Tundra does. I can give you more info on the Toyota trucks if you like as they put food on my table.

I weighed my new xr4140 with a 48 fork and full fuel and it was 6554 lbs. my tundra pulled about 10,000 lbs (with air bags). I highly recommend this over a 3 series. Much more robust. I never complained about having too much!
